Giant Electrostriction and Relaxor Ferroelectric Behavior in Electron-Irradiated Poly(vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene) Copolymer

TL;DR: An exceptionally high electrostrictive response was observed in electron-irradiated poly(vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene) [P(VDF-TrFE)] copolymer, suggesting that the electron irradiation breaks up the coherent polarization domain in normal ferroelectric P( VDF- TrFE)Copolymer into nanopolar regions that transform the material into a relaxor ferroElectric.
Journal ArticleDOI

High-performance lithium sulfur batteries enabled by a synergy between sulfur and carbon nanotubes

TL;DR: In this article, a freestanding thin-film composite containing sulfurized polyacrylonitrile with conductive backbone of carbon nanotubes has been fabricated by an electrospinning method followed by vulcanization, and employed as the binder-free cathode for lithium sulfur batteries without any aid of current collectors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Adult height and the risk of cause-specific death and vascular morbidity in 1 million people: individual participant meta-analysis

David Wormser, +271 more
TL;DR: Adult height has directionally opposing relationships with risk of death from several different major causes of chronic diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI

A hierarchical nickel–carbon structure templated by metal–organic frameworks for efficient overall water splitting

TL;DR: In this paper, a hierarchical Ni-carbon composite, fabricated by growing sheet-like Ni-MOFs on commercial nickel foam prior to high-temperature annealing, was used as a highly efficient bifunctional catalyst.
