The amphioxus genome illuminates vertebrate origins and cephalochordate biology

Linda Z. Holland, +71 more
- 01 Jul 2008 -
TL;DR: The results indicate that the amphioxus genome is elemental to an understanding of the biology and evolution of nonchordate deuterostomes, invertebrate chordates, and vertebrates.
Journal ArticleDOI

The promoter of the CD19 gene is a target for the B-cell-specific transcription factor BSAP.

TL;DR: Complete correlation between the expression pattern of the CD19 gene and the B-cell-specific transcription factor BSAP is demonstrated in a large panel of B-lymphoid cell lines and strongly implicates BSAP in the regulation of theCD19 gene.
Journal ArticleDOI

Amphioxus functional genomics and the origins of vertebrate gene regulation

Ferdinand Marlétaz, +71 more
- 21 Nov 2018 -
TL;DR: Genomic, epigenomic and transcriptomic data derived from the Mediterranean amphioxus provide insights into the evolution of the genomic regulatory landscape of chordates, and pave the way for a better understanding of the regulatory principles that underlie key vertebrate innovations.
Journal ArticleDOI

A dynamic gradient of Wnt signaling controls initiation of neurogenesis in the mammalian cortex and cellular specification in the hippocampus.

TL;DR: It is reported that a gradual retreat of canonical Wnt signaling in the cortex from lateral-to-medial and anterior- to-posterior is a prerequisite of neurogenesis, and it is shown that a sustained canonical WNT activity in the lateral cortex gives rise to cells with hippocampal characteristics in the cortical plate at the expense of the cortical fate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Deregulation of PAX-5 by translocation of the Emu enhancer of the IgH locus adjacent to two alternative PAX-5 promoters in a diffuse large-cell lymphoma.

TL;DR: Deregulation of PAX-5 gene transcription by the t(9;14)(pl3;q32) translocation contributes to the pathogenesis of small lymphocytic lymphomas with plasmacytoid differentiation.
