Biohydrogen production: prospects and limitations to practical application

TLDR
In this paper, the authors compare the hydrogen production rates of various bio-hydrogen systems by first standardizing the units of hydrogen production and then calculating the size of biohydrogen system that would be required to power proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells of various sizes.

Biohydrogen production by isolated halotolerant photosynthetic bacteria using long-wavelength light-emitting diode (LW-LED)

TL;DR: In this paper, halotolerant photosynthetic hydrogen producing bacteria (ht-PHB) were isolated from a sediment of tideland, and hydrogen gas (H2) production by isolated htPHB from mixed short-chain fatty acids (SFAs) using a longwavelength light emitting diode (LW-LED) was investigated.

Conversion of organic solid waste to hydrogen and methane by two-stage fermentation system with reuse of methane fermenter effluent as diluting water in hydrogen fermentation

TL;DR: In the first stage of dark fermentative hydrogen production (DFHP), a recently proposed method that does not require external inoculum, was applied and anaerobic sequencing batch reactor (ASBR) and UASBr were followed to treat H2 fermenter effluent to reduce the alkali addition requirement.

Selection and isolation of hydrogen-producing fermentative bacteria with high yield and rate and its bioaugmentation process

TL;DR: In this paper, it was proved by analysis of 16S rDNA sequence that it, R3, possibly belongs to a novel genus and it was found that the optimal glucose concentration is 12.0 g/l and the optimal initial pH is about 5.5.
Journal ArticleDOI

Improvement of hydrogen production by biological route using repeated batch cycles

TL;DR: In this article, a repeated batch cycle operation was evaluated by adding glucose or lactose in an isolated, alternated or simultaneous way, in order to keep the production of hydrogen for a longer time.
