Biohydrogen production: prospects and limitations to practical application

TLDR
In this paper, the authors compare the hydrogen production rates of various bio-hydrogen systems by first standardizing the units of hydrogen production and then calculating the size of biohydrogen system that would be required to power proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells of various sizes.

Biohydrogen production using mutant strains of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii: The effects of light intensity and illumination patterns

TL;DR: Light intensities, illumination patterns and Chlamydomonas strains such as CC124 and D1 protein mutant strains (D240, D239-40, D240-41) were investigated for the production of biohydrogen and showed that an increase in the light intensity shortened the lag phase of hydrogen production.

Photo-biological hydrogen production by the adopted mixed culture: Data enveloping analysis

TL;DR: In this article, photo-biological hydrogen (H 2 ) production along with substrate degradation was evaluated by employing adopted photosynthetic mixed culture in batch experiments, in concurrence, with different types of wastewaters, organic loading rates (OLR), operating pH, presence of vitamins and sterilized/un-sterilized conditions.

Strategies to improve the biohydrogen production from cassava wastewater in fixed-bed reactors

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the effects of organic loading rate (OLR) increase and strategies of inoculation (AS - anaerobic sludge thermally treated and NF - naturally fermented cassava starch wastewater) on UAFBR performance.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effect of the surface charge of hydrogel supports on thermophilic biohydrogen production.

TL;DR: The effect of the surface charge of different immobilizing hydrogels on biohydrogen production in batch cultures was investigated using a novel isolate associated to the genus Thermoanaerobacterium, and cationic carriers dramatically increased cell immobilization, leading to markedly faster kinetics of substrate degradation and hydrogen production inbatch operation.
