Biohydrogen production: prospects and limitations to practical application

TLDR
In this paper, the authors compare the hydrogen production rates of various bio-hydrogen systems by first standardizing the units of hydrogen production and then calculating the size of biohydrogen system that would be required to power proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells of various sizes.

Effect of pH on Biohydrogen Production in Green Alga Tetraspora sp. CU2551

TL;DR: The result revealed that pH of culture TAP medium was simply controlled by the use of HCl/NaOH solution over the pH range of 6.5 - 9.0 without any effect on the growth of algal cells.

Hydrogen production from biomass by integrating thermochemical and biological processes

TL;DR: In this article, different strains of E. coli were tested under controlled conditions in 3 L scale fermentations with the aim to find the most useful strain for the fermentation process in terms of H 2 produced and the subsequent hydrogen production potential of the organic acid co-products in downstream photofermentation.

Alkali-treated sewage sludge as a seeding source for hydrogen fermentation of food waste leachate

TL;DR: In this paper, the role of alkaline treatment of sewage sludge was to suppress the activity of non-H 2 -producers in SS and also to enhance the solubility of SS.

Fermentative hydrogen production by newly isolated Clostridium perfringens ATCC 13124

TL;DR: A new and efficient hydrogen-producing strain was isolated from activated sewage sludge, and this enriched strain was employed to produce hydrogen by fermentation from glucose-based medium, indicating that it has the potential of converting renewable wastes into hydrogen.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of the potential hydrogen production by diazotrophic Burkholderia species

TL;DR: In this article, the N 2 -fixing bacterial strain B. unamae and B. tropica were tested and optimized to maximize H 2 production, including atmospheric conditions, carbon sources and chemical compounds such as enzyme cofactors and sugar cane molasses.
