Asymmetric addition of diethylzinc to aldehydes catalyzed by a camphor-derived β-amino alcohol
TL;DR: The asymmetric addition of diethylzinc to aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes, including linear alphatic ones, catalyzed by 2 ǫ% of β-amino alcohol (1S, 2R)-7,7-dimethyl-1-morpholin-4-yl-bicyclo[221] gave the corresponding secondary alcohols in high yields and with up to 94% ee at ambient temperature after 15min this paper.

TL;DR: X-ray crystallography, NMR spectroscopy, DFT calculations and theoretical modelling of the reaction of EtMgCl with ZnCl reveal that formation of the mixed-metal compound is thermodynamically preferred to that of the expected homometallic products, RZnCl and MgCl(2), pointing towards the existence of a trilateral Li/Mg/Zn synergistic effect.
