Guide for the Design and Construction of Externally Bonded FRP Systems for Strengthening Concrete Structures

TLDR
The Emerging Technology Series as mentioned in this paper is a series of information and recommendations based on available test data, technical reports, limited experience with field applications, and the opinions of committee members, with a focus on the development and appropriate use of new and emerging technologies.
Abstract
*Co-chairs of the subcommittee that prepared this document. Note: The committee acknowledges the contribution of associate member Paul Kelley. ACI encourages the development and appropriate use of new and emerging technologies through the publication of the Emerging Technology Series. This series presents information and recommendations based on available test data, technical reports, limited experience with field applications, and the opinions of committee members. The presented information and recommendations, and their basis, may be less fully developed and tested than those for more mature technologies. This report identifies areas in which information is believed to be less fully developed, and describes research needs. The professional using this document should understand the limitations of this document and exercise judgment as to the appropriate application of this emerging technology.

Analytical assessment of the bearing capacity of RC beams with corroded steel bars beyond concrete cover cracking

TL;DR: In this paper, a calculation model for assessing steel bar mass loss and contributes to further utilization of common in-situ inspections from a structural point of view is presented. But the model is based on the width of longitudinal crack of concrete cover, as a function of cover depth, bar diameter and mechanical properties of concrete.

Flexural Behaviour of Damaged RC Beams Strengthened with Ultra High Performance Concrete

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the details of flexural behaviour of damaged RC beams strengthened with Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) overlay and show that there is a significant increase in load carrying capacity and ductility in the case of preloaded RC beam strengthened with UHPC overlay.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analytical stress-strain law of FRP confined masonry in compression: Literature review and design provisions

TL;DR: In this article, a comparative analysis of the main existing theoretical models to predict the stress-strain curve of FRP confined masonry in compression is presented, and criteria to obtain the strength increase are initially analyzed and compared with experimental results, evaluating the reliability of each expression.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of curing temperature conditions on glass transition temperature values of epoxy polymer used for wet lay-up applications

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of temperature curing conditions of the glass transition temperature of the epoxy polymer used for externally bonded strengthening system applied by wet lay-up methods is investigated.

Shear behavior of full-scale reinforced concrete T-beams strengthened with CFRP strips and anchors

TL;DR: In this paper, nine tests were conducted on 1220mm deep T-beams strengthened in shear using Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) strips and CFRP anchors.

Theoretical stress strain model for confined concrete

TL;DR: In this paper, a stress-strain model for concrete subjected to uniaxial compressive loading and confined by transverse reinforcement is developed for concrete sections with either spiral or circular hoops, or rectangular hoops with or without supplementary cross ties.

Seismic Design and Retrofit of Bridges

TL;DR: In this article, the authors focus on designing adequate displacement and ductility capacity into new bridges, with less significance placed on strength, where a strength hierarchy is established in a bridge to ensure that damage is controllable and occurs only where the designer intends.
