Guide for the Design and Construction of Externally Bonded FRP Systems for Strengthening Concrete Structures

TLDR
The Emerging Technology Series as mentioned in this paper is a series of information and recommendations based on available test data, technical reports, limited experience with field applications, and the opinions of committee members, with a focus on the development and appropriate use of new and emerging technologies.
Abstract
*Co-chairs of the subcommittee that prepared this document. Note: The committee acknowledges the contribution of associate member Paul Kelley. ACI encourages the development and appropriate use of new and emerging technologies through the publication of the Emerging Technology Series. This series presents information and recommendations based on available test data, technical reports, limited experience with field applications, and the opinions of committee members. The presented information and recommendations, and their basis, may be less fully developed and tested than those for more mature technologies. This report identifies areas in which information is believed to be less fully developed, and describes research needs. The professional using this document should understand the limitations of this document and exercise judgment as to the appropriate application of this emerging technology.

Attempt for Seismic Retrofit of Existing Substandard RC Members under Reversed Cyclic Flexural Effects

TL;DR: The applicability of flexural seismic retrofitting using carbon FRP precured laminates and rods is investigated experimentally in this paper, where the effect of reversed cyclic actions, which impose cycles of compression and tension stresses on the FRP reinforcement, is examined.

Quantifying strain variation in frp confined concrete using digital image correlation: proof-of-concept and initial results

TL;DR: In this paper, a digital image correlation technique was used to quantify axial and hoop strain variation over the surface of FRP confined concrete cylinders using a novel digital imaging correlation technique.

Plasticity-based criterion for confinement design of FRP jacketed concrete columns

TL;DR: In this article, a Drucker-Prager-based criterion for classification of confinement levels is developed in the framework of Drucker−Prager plasticity, and explicit relationships for calculating the strength and ductility ratios of FRP confined concrete columns are developed as functions of the confinement stiffness ratio and FRP rupture strain.

Full-scale seismic testing of concrete building columns reinforced with both steel and CFRP bars

TL;DR: In this paper, an experimental study of an innovative concrete building column which is longitudinally reinforced with both steel bars and fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composite bars is presented.

Seismic Design and Retrofit of Bridges

TL;DR: In this article, the authors focus on designing adequate displacement and ductility capacity into new bridges, with less significance placed on strength, where a strength hierarchy is established in a bridge to ensure that damage is controllable and occurs only where the designer intends.
