Guide for the Design and Construction of Externally Bonded FRP Systems for Strengthening Concrete Structures

TLDR
The Emerging Technology Series as mentioned in this paper is a series of information and recommendations based on available test data, technical reports, limited experience with field applications, and the opinions of committee members, with a focus on the development and appropriate use of new and emerging technologies.
Abstract
*Co-chairs of the subcommittee that prepared this document. Note: The committee acknowledges the contribution of associate member Paul Kelley. ACI encourages the development and appropriate use of new and emerging technologies through the publication of the Emerging Technology Series. This series presents information and recommendations based on available test data, technical reports, limited experience with field applications, and the opinions of committee members. The presented information and recommendations, and their basis, may be less fully developed and tested than those for more mature technologies. This report identifies areas in which information is believed to be less fully developed, and describes research needs. The professional using this document should understand the limitations of this document and exercise judgment as to the appropriate application of this emerging technology.

Experimental and nonlinear finite element studies of RC beams strengthened with FRP plates

TL;DR: In this paper, the brittle failure modes of RC members strengthened in flexure by FRP plates are studied and the finite element analyses are based on nonlinear fracture mechanics, and the actual crack pattern observed in the tests by using a smeared and an interface crack model.

Improving seismic performance of deficient reinforced concrete columns using carbon fiber-reinforced polymers

TL;DR: In this article, the use of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) wrapping as a method of retrofitting nonductile square reinforced concrete columns with low strength concrete and plain bars was investigated.

Durability of bonded FRP-to-steel joints: Effects of moisture, de-icing salt solution, temperature and FRP type

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of environmental ageing on the mechanical response of double-lap shear joints made of steel and CFRP or GFRP adherents were investigated and the joint-level results were compared with the most relevant durability data in the literature.

Theoretical stress strain model for confined concrete

TL;DR: In this paper, a stress-strain model for concrete subjected to uniaxial compressive loading and confined by transverse reinforcement is developed for concrete sections with either spiral or circular hoops, or rectangular hoops with or without supplementary cross ties.

Seismic Design and Retrofit of Bridges

TL;DR: In this article, the authors focus on designing adequate displacement and ductility capacity into new bridges, with less significance placed on strength, where a strength hierarchy is established in a bridge to ensure that damage is controllable and occurs only where the designer intends.
