Hierarchies from fluxes in string compactifications
TLDR
In this article, the authors show that the hierarchy of scales can be fixed by a choice of Ramond-Ramond and Neveu-Schwarz fluxes in the compact manifold, and give examples involving orientifold compactifications of type IIB string theory and F-theory compactifications on Calabi-Yau fourfolds.Abstract:
Warped compactifications with significant warping provide one of the few known mechanisms for naturally generating large hierarchies of physical scales. We demonstrate that this mechanism is realizable in string theory, and give examples involving orientifold compactifications of type-IIB string theory and F-theory compactifications on Calabi-Yau fourfolds. In each case, the hierarchy of scales is fixed by a choice of Ramond-Ramond and Neveu-Schwarz fluxes in the compact manifold. Our solutions involve compactifications of the Klebanov-Strassler gravity dual to a confining $\mathcal{N}=1$ supersymmetric gauge theory, and the hierarchy reflects the small scale of chiral symmetry breaking in the dual gauge theory.read more

The Volume of some Non-spherical Horizons and the AdS/CFT Correspondence
TL;DR: In this article, the Sasaki-Einstein manifolds, which are the bases of Ricci-flat affine cones described by polynomial embedding relations in C^n, were calculated and the volumes of these manifolds were shown to correspond to the number of holomorphic polynomials on the corresponding affine cone.

Supersymmetry and Stability of Flux Vacua
TL;DR: In this article, a modified KKLT mechanism for moduli stabilization in a supersymmetric Minkowski vacuum state is proposed, where supersymmetry ensures vacuum stability and positivity of the mass matrix for the dilaton, complex structure, and the volume modulus.

SUSY breaking mediation by throat fields
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigate the mediation of supersymmetry breaking by fields propagating in the strongly warped region of the compactification manifold (throat fields) and find that such fields can couple both to the supersymmetric breaking sector at IR end of the throat and to the visible sector at the UV end.
