Hierarchies from fluxes in string compactifications
TLDR
In this article, the authors show that the hierarchy of scales can be fixed by a choice of Ramond-Ramond and Neveu-Schwarz fluxes in the compact manifold, and give examples involving orientifold compactifications of type IIB string theory and F-theory compactifications on Calabi-Yau fourfolds.Abstract:
Warped compactifications with significant warping provide one of the few known mechanisms for naturally generating large hierarchies of physical scales. We demonstrate that this mechanism is realizable in string theory, and give examples involving orientifold compactifications of type-IIB string theory and F-theory compactifications on Calabi-Yau fourfolds. In each case, the hierarchy of scales is fixed by a choice of Ramond-Ramond and Neveu-Schwarz fluxes in the compact manifold. Our solutions involve compactifications of the Klebanov-Strassler gravity dual to a confining $\mathcal{N}=1$ supersymmetric gauge theory, and the hierarchy reflects the small scale of chiral symmetry breaking in the dual gauge theory.read more

Constraints on Wrapped DBI Inflation in a Warped Throat
TL;DR: This article derived constraints on the tensor to scalar ratio and background charge of the warped throat for DBI inflation driven by D5-and D7-branes wrapped over cycles of the throat.

Higgs-otic Inflation and String Theory
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the inflaton/Higgs fields correspond to D7-brane positions along a two-torus transverse to them and that the required large field excursions of chaotic inflation may be realized in string theory with the (complex) inflaton and Higgs identified with a continuous Wilson line or D-branes position.

Counting Flux Vacua
TL;DR: In this article, a technique for computing expected numbers of vacua in Gaussian ensembles of supergravity theories was developed, and applied to derive an asymptotic formula for the index counting all flux supersymmetric vacua with signs in Calabi-Yau compactification of type IIb string theory, which becomes exact in the limit of a large number of fluxes.

Euclidean wormholes, baby universes, and their impact on particle physics and cosmology
TL;DR: In particular, wormholes are expected to break the shift symmetries of axions or Goldstone bosons non-perturbatively as discussed by the authors, which can be relevant to large-field inflation and connects to arguments made on the basis of the Weak Gravity or Swampland conjectures.

The Large N limit of superconformal field theories and supergravity
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the large-N limits of certain conformal field theories in various dimensions include in their Hilbert space a sector describing supergravityon the product of anti-de Sitter spacetimes, spheres, and other compact manifolds.

Large Mass Hierarchy from a Small Extra Dimension
TL;DR: In this paper, the weak scale is generated from the Planck scale through an exponential hierarchy, but this exponential arises not from gauge interactions but from the background metric, which is a slice of spacetime.
