The structure of amorphous Ge

TL;DR: In this paper, small angle X-ray scattering experiments, along with radial distribution analysis, have been carried out on amorphous Ge prepared by three methods: evaporation, sputtering and electrodeposition.
Journal ArticleDOI

Eumelanin Buildup on the Nanoscale: Aggregate Growth/Assembly and Visible Absorption Development in Biomimetic 5,6-Dihydroxyindole Polymerization.

TL;DR: The first detailed investigation on the nanoscale level of the oxidative polymerization of 5,6-dihydroxyindole (DHI) shows that DHI monomer can be efficiently and partially irreversibly depleted from aqueous solutions by the addition of eumelanin suspensions, and supports the attractive hypothesis that eumels may behave as a peculiar example of living biopolymers.
Journal ArticleDOI

The conformation and aggregation of bovine β‐casein A. I. Molecular aspects of thermal aggregation

TL;DR: The conformation of β-casein A in the monomeric and thermally aggregated states has been investigated by a range of techniques as discussed by the authors, and β-Casein A is known to exhibit a lot of segmental motion, but its secondary structure is not wholly random coil; about one third of the polypeptide chain is ordered and the likely locations of these regions are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental measurement of the mass distribution of petroleum asphaltene aggregates using ultracentrifugation and small-angle X-ray scattering

TL;DR: In this article, a fractionation of petroleum asphaltene in toluene has been carried out using ultracentrifugation using small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS).
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis and characterization of silver nanoparticle/kaolinite composites

TL;DR: In this article, Ag nanoparticles were synthetized in the interlamellar space of a layered kaolinite clay mineral by intercalation of dimethyl sulfoxide.

Statistical Mechanics of Fluid Mixtures

TL;DR: In this paper, the chemical potentials of the components of gas mixtures and liquid solutions are obtained in terms of relatively simple integrals in the configuration spaces of molecular pairs, and the molecular pair distribution functions appearing in these integrals are investigated in some detail, in their dependence upon the composition and density of the fluid.

The optical principles of the diffraction of x-rays.

TL;DR: In this paper, Bragg et al. describe the Optik der R6ntgenstrahlen in Raumgitter and leitet damit fiber zu den experimentellen Methoden and Ergebn]ssen, die den folgenden B~nden vorbehalten bleiben.

Small-Angle X-Ray Scattering

TL;DR: The neighbourhood of the direct beam is, for a variety of reasons, easily obscured by scattered radiation and insufficient collimation, so that special measures such as very long film-specimen distances or focusing crystal monochromators have been used for obtaining satisfactory photographs.
