CD and small‐angle x‐ray scattering of silk fibroin in solution

TL;DR: The structure of silk fibroin dissolved in water and in water–organic solvent mixtures is investigated by CD and small‐angle x‐ray scattering (SAXS) and the presence of Fibroin particles of lamellar shape is indicated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Stochastic theory of scattering from idealized spinodal structures. II. Scattering in general and for the basic late stage model

TL;DR: In this paper, the autocorrelation function (ACF) of ΔCL(r) depends only on the ACF of ΔC0(r), and the latter is related simply to the distribution of wavelengths present.
Journal ArticleDOI

The superstructure of chromatin and its condensation mechanism. I. Synchrotron radiation X-ray scattering results.

TL;DR: Experimental evidence obtained from static and time-resolved scattering experiments led to a model according to which at low ionic strength the chromatin fibre already possesses a helical superstructure, with a diameter comparable to that of condensed chromatin, held together by the H1 (H5) histone.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effect of basic myelin protein on multilayer membrane formation.

TL;DR: Results are presented of some studies on the interaction of basic protein with phospholipid, using egg phosphatidyl glycerol (PG) as a prototype acidic lipid to shed light on the two questions raised above.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multiple probes reveal a native-like intermediate during low-temperature refolding of ubiquitin.

TL;DR: It is suggested that ubiquitin forms a compact ensemble with native-like secondary structure, but without tight packing, long before the native state, much like that of the guanidinium-denatured state.

Statistical Mechanics of Fluid Mixtures

TL;DR: In this paper, the chemical potentials of the components of gas mixtures and liquid solutions are obtained in terms of relatively simple integrals in the configuration spaces of molecular pairs, and the molecular pair distribution functions appearing in these integrals are investigated in some detail, in their dependence upon the composition and density of the fluid.

The optical principles of the diffraction of x-rays.

TL;DR: In this paper, Bragg et al. describe the Optik der R6ntgenstrahlen in Raumgitter and leitet damit fiber zu den experimentellen Methoden and Ergebn]ssen, die den folgenden B~nden vorbehalten bleiben.

Small-Angle X-Ray Scattering

TL;DR: The neighbourhood of the direct beam is, for a variety of reasons, easily obscured by scattered radiation and insufficient collimation, so that special measures such as very long film-specimen distances or focusing crystal monochromators have been used for obtaining satisfactory photographs.
