A Small-Angle Neutron Scattering Study of a Commercial Organoclay Dispersion

TL;DR: In this article, the capacity of small angle neutron neutron scattering (SANS) to characterize the dispersion of an exchanged clay in an organic solvent was explored, and the results indicated that the mixture is well dispersed into clusters which consist of a stack of between three and six ditallow-coated montmorillonite platelets.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of nanostructure and nanochemistry by ASAXS: Accessing phase composition of oxyfluoride glass ceramics doped with Er 3 + / Yb 3 +

TL;DR: In this article, the analysis of the nanostructure and average chemical compositions of each phase present in an oxyfluoride glass ceramic, which is composed of fluoride nanocrystals and an oxide glass matrix, is described.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structure of the polar head layer and water penetration in a cationic micelle

J. Tabony
- 01 Mar 1984 -
TL;DR: In this article, contrast variation neutron small angle scattering experiments have been used to determine the configuration of the polar head groups in cationic micelles of tetradecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide.
Journal ArticleDOI

Raman scattering of nanoporous semiconductors

TL;DR: In this paper, the application of Raman scattering for characterizing porous semiconductors is reviewed, and the effective medium theory is used, taking into account the morphology with parallel pores or nanocolumns with radii down to a few tens of nanometers.
Journal ArticleDOI

The local structure of molten polyethylene

TL;DR: In this paper, wide-angle X-ray scattering provides a direct link to the local structure of non-crystalline materials and the packing of the irregular chains is modelled using a novel approach based on the geometry of randomly packed spheres.

Statistical Mechanics of Fluid Mixtures

TL;DR: In this paper, the chemical potentials of the components of gas mixtures and liquid solutions are obtained in terms of relatively simple integrals in the configuration spaces of molecular pairs, and the molecular pair distribution functions appearing in these integrals are investigated in some detail, in their dependence upon the composition and density of the fluid.

The optical principles of the diffraction of x-rays.

TL;DR: In this paper, Bragg et al. describe the Optik der R6ntgenstrahlen in Raumgitter and leitet damit fiber zu den experimentellen Methoden and Ergebn]ssen, die den folgenden B~nden vorbehalten bleiben.

Small-Angle X-Ray Scattering

TL;DR: The neighbourhood of the direct beam is, for a variety of reasons, easily obscured by scattered radiation and insufficient collimation, so that special measures such as very long film-specimen distances or focusing crystal monochromators have been used for obtaining satisfactory photographs.
