Abstract
By applying the specific fabrication conditions summarized in the Experimental section and post-production annealing at 150 °C, polymer solar cells with power-conversion efficiency approaching 5 % are demonstrated. These devices exhibit remarkable thermal stability. We attribute the improved performance to changes in the bulk heterojunction material induced by thermal annealing. The improved nanoscale morphology, the increased crystallinity of the semiconducting polymer, and the improved contact to the electron-collecting electrode facilitate charge generation, charge transport to, and charge collection at the electrodes, thereby enhancing the device efficiency by lowering the series resistance of the polymer solar cells.

Efficiency Enhancement of Polymer Solar Cells Based on Poly(3‐hexylthiophene)/Indene‐C70 Bisadduct via Methylthiophene Additive

TL;DR: In this paper, a photovoltaic performance of polymer solar cells based on poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) as the donor and indene-C70 bisadduct (IC70BA) as acceptor is improved by adding 3 vol% 3-methylthiopane (MT) or 3hexyl thiophene (HT) processing additive.

TL;DR: Two solid additives with different volatilities are applied and it is found that the volatilization of SA-4 after thermal annealing is beneficial for the self-assembly packing of acceptors, while the residuals due to the incompletevolatilized SA-7 have a negative effect on the film morphology.

The Relationship between Nanoscale Architecture and Function in Photovoltaic Multichromophoric Arrays as Visualized by Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy

TL;DR: This work combines the two material types by employing structurally well-defined polyisocyanopeptide polymers as scaffolds to precisely arrange thousands of electron-accepting molecules, namely, perylenebis(dicarboximides) (PDIs), in defined chromophoric wires with lengths of hundreds of nanometers, making possible a study of the correlation between function and architecture with nanoscale resolution.
