Leukocyte telomere length in paediatric critical illness: effect of early parenteral nutrition.

TL;DR: Shorter than normal leukocyte telomere length is present in critically ill children admitted to the PICU, and early initiation of PN further shortened telomeres, an effect that was independent of other determinants.

Albumin 5% Versus Crystalloids for Fluid Resuscitation in Children After Cardiac Surgery*

TL;DR: In this study, the use of albumin 5% for resuscitation after cardiac surgery was not associated with less fluid intake but rather the opposite, and albumin administration did not provide measured clinical benefit while exposing children to side effects and generating higher costs to the healthcare system.
