The sequence and de novo assembly of the giant panda genome

Ruiqiang Li, +126 more
- 21 Jan 2010 -
TL;DR: Using next-generation sequencing technology alone, a draft sequence of the giant panda genome is generated and assembled, indicating that its bamboo diet might be more dependent on its gut microbiome than its own genetic composition.
Journal ArticleDOI

Large-scale ruminant genome sequencing provides insights into their evolution and distinct traits.

TL;DR: The controversies in the ruminant phylogeny are resolved and the genetic basis underpinning the evolutionary innovations in ruminants is revealed, demonstrating the power of using comparative phylogenomic approaches in resolving the deep branches of phylogeny that result from rapid radiations.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Genome Phylogeny of Domestic Cat, Red Panda and Five Mustelid Species Revealed by Comparative Chromosome Painting and G-banding

TL;DR: The chromosomal painting results indicate that most chromosomes of these species are highly conserved and show one-to-one correspondence with stone marten and cat chromosomes or chromosomal arms, and that only a few interchromosomal rearrangements have occurred during species radiation.
