Journal ArticleDOI

Loop diuretics inhibit cholinergic and noncholinergic nerves in guinea pig airways.

TL;DR: It is concluded that loop diuretics inhibit both cholinergic and excitatory NANC neurotransmission in guinea pig airways and that this effect may be related to their inhibitory effects on the sodium-potassium-chloride cotransporter.
Journal ArticleDOI

Involvement of cysteinyl leukotrienes in airway smooth muscle cell DNA synthesis after repeated allergen exposure in sensitized Brown Norway rats.

TL;DR: The data indicate that the cysteinyl leukotrienes are important mediators in allergen‐induced ASM cell DNA synthesis and ASM thickening in rats, while both LTB4 and cysteiny leukOTrienes contribute to ASM Thickening and eosinophil recruitment following repeated allerGEN exposure.
Journal ArticleDOI

The MAP kinase inhibitors, PD098059, UO126 and SB203580, inhibit IL-1β-dependent PGE2 release via mechanistically distinct processes

TL;DR: It is concluded that the MEK1, MEK2 and p38 MAP kinase inhibitors, PD098059, UO126 and SB203580, are highly potent in respect of inflammatory PG release and act via mechanistically distinct processes, which may have anti‐inflammatory benefits.
Journal ArticleDOI

Current issues for establishing inhaled corticosteroids as the antiinflammatory agents of choice in asthma

TL;DR: The efficacy and safety of inhaled corticosteroids are compared in this article, and inhaled Corticosteroid therapy is also compared with other therapies.
