TL;DR: Phylogenetic analyses, comparison of gene content across the group, and reconstruction of ancestral gene sets indicate a combination of extensive gene loss and key gene acquisitions via horizontal gene transfer during the coevolution of lactic acid bacteria with their habitats.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome sequencing and analysis of the biomass-degrading fungus Trichoderma reesei (syn. Hypocrea jecorina).

TL;DR: This work assembled 89 scaffolds to generate 34 Mbp of nearly contiguous T. reesei genome sequence comprising 9,129 predicted gene models, providing a roadmap for constructing enhanced T.Reesei strains for industrial applications such as biofuel production.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Combining the genomic evidence with available culture traits, it is postulate that cells of these isolates are long-lived, divide slowly, exhibit slow metabolic rates under low-nutrient conditions, and are well equipped to tolerate fluctuations in soil hydration.
Journal ArticleDOI
TCDB: the Transporter Classification Database for membrane transport protein analyses and information
TL;DR: The Transporter Classification Database (TCDB) is a web accessible, curated, relational database containing sequence, classification, structural, functional and evolutionary information about transport systems from a variety of living organisms.
Journal ArticleDOI
The complete genome sequence of Moorella thermoacetica (f. Clostridium thermoaceticum).

TL;DR: This first genome sequence of an acetogenic bacterium provides important information related to how acetogens engage their extreme metabolic diversity by switching among different carbon substrates and electron donors/acceptors and how they conserve energy by anaerobic respiration.
