TL;DR: In this article, a head-track orienting system for magnetic recording tape drives is described, which automatically corrects for misalignment between the head assembly and a recorded servo track on the tape.
Abstract: A head-track orienting system for use in magnetic recording tape drives is disclosed which automatically corrects for misalignment between the head assembly and a recorded servo track on the tape. Using a servo control loop, the system calculates head-track alignment error during operation of the tape drive and either pivots the head assembly or adjusts the tape cartridge to compensate for the error. Transverse head-track positioning mechanisms are also included in the system to locate and maintain a centered position of the heads on the servo track.

TL;DR: In this paper, a fluorocarbon terminal portion and a chiral hydrocarbon terminal portion are provided, with the terminal portions being connected by a central core, and compounds having tilted smectic mesophases or having latent tilted SMC are in admixture with other compounds having SMC.
Abstract: Compounds are provided which comprise a fluorocarbon terminal portion and a chiral hydrocarbon terminal portion, said terminal portions being connected by a central core, said compounds having tilted smectic mesophases or having latent tilted smectic mesophases which develop when said compounds having said latent mesophases are in admixture with said compounds having tilted smectic mesophases or said compounds having latent tilted smectic mesophases.

TL;DR: In this paper, a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition was proposed, consisting of a benzene soluble copolymer, a diorganoalkenylsiloxy end-blocked polydiorganosiloxane, a dioderganohydrogensiloxy, a crosslinking agent, and a hydrosilation catalyst.
Abstract: This invention relates to organopolysiloxane compositions and, more particularly, to such compositions that can be cured to produce pressure-sensitive adhesives. While the hydrosilation reaction of alkenylsiloxanes with hydrosilanes in the presence of a suitable catalyst has been used to prepare potting, molding, and elastomeric products as well as materials useful for providing substrates with a release surface, the reaction has not been used to a great extent to provide pressure-sensitve adhesives. The present invention provides pressure-sensitive adhesive composition comprising (a) a benzene soluble, resinous copolymer, (b) a diorganoalkenylsiloxy endblocked polydiorganosiloxane, (c) a diorganohydrogensiloxy endblocked polydiorganosiloxane, (d) a crosslinking agent, and (e) a hydrosilation catalyst in an amount sufficient to effect curing of the composition. The major advantage of the present invention is that solvent need not be used to apply the composition. This non-use of solvent results in savings of material, time, and energy, and reduction in health and safety hazards.

TL;DR: In this paper, a stack of flexible sheet material for use in a dispensing device for dispensing individual sheets is presented, where the sheets are stacked with alternately opposite edges of successive sheets coated along one edge with a narrow band of readily releasable repositionable pressure-sensitive adhesive.
Abstract: A stack of flexible sheet material for use in a dispensing device for dispensing individual sheets. The sheets are stacked with alternately opposite edges of successive sheets coated along one edge with a narrow band of readily releasable repositionable pressure-sensitive adhesive. The dispenser comprises a container having a pair of sidewalls connected by a top wall which is formed with a transversely extending rectangular opening extending in the direction parallel to the sidewalls. The stack of sheets are placed within the dispenser such that upon removing the uppermost sheet in the stack the adhesive coating along one edge of the sheet parallel to the opening and adhered to the free edge of the next sheet in the stack will cause the next sheet in the stack to be withdrawn at that free edge through the dispensing opening upon withdrawal of the adhesive coated edge of the uppermost sheet.
