11 Oct 2005TL;DR: In this paper, a system and method for programming an industrial robot to perform a work cycle including visiting and performing work on one or more workstations is presented, where a user can specify the order in which the robot shall visit the selected workstation, and a robot program generator is used to generate the robot program for performing the work cycle.
Abstract: A system and method for programming an industrial robot to perform a work cycle including visiting and performing work on one or more workstations, the system including a graphical dis¬ play device (2) and user input means (3) for entering data and commands to the system, a memory location (5) for storing a set of predefined workstations comprising preprogrammed robot code, a graphical generator (7), generating one or more graphi- cal user interfaces on said display device, displaying information about the predefined workstations and allowing a user to select one or more of the predefined workstations and to specify the order in which the robot shall visit the selected workstations, user input receiving means (9), receiving and storing information about selected workstations and the order in which the robot shall visit the workstations, and a robot program generator (8), generating a robot program for performing the work cycle based on said predefined workstations and said received and stored information about selected workstations and the order in which the robot shall visit the workstations.

18 May 2011TL;DR: In this paper, exemplary systems for providing control and expert services over a communication network by specialized service providers to various kinds of automation needs and methods thereof are described, allowing sharing of automated control system components among one or multiple users.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to exemplary systems for providing control and expert services over a communication network by specialized service providers to various kinds of automation needs and methods thereof. The arrangement allows sharing of automated control system components among one or multiple users. Methods to configure and use control and automation service are also described. Exemplary systems for control and automation service as disclosed herein can have greater flexibility and simplicity from the plant user perspective.

03 Sep 2018TL;DR: The experiences of applying three complementary automated software architecture analysis techniques, supported by a tool suite, called DV8, to 8 industrial projects within a large company revealed that the metrics scores, quantitative debt analysis, and architecture flaw visualization can effectively bridge the gap between management and development, help them decide if, when, and where to refactor.
Abstract: In this paper, we report our experiences of applying three complementary automated software architecture analysis techniques, supported by a tool suite, called DV8, to 8 industrial projects within a large company. DV8 includes two state-of-the-art architecture-level maintainability metrics—Decoupling Level and Propagation Cost, an architecture flaw detection tool, and an architecture root detection tool. We collected development process data from the project teams as input to these tools, reported the results back to the practitioners, and followed up with telephone conferences and interviews. Our experiences revealed that the metrics scores, quantitative debt analysis, and architecture flaw visualization can effectively bridge the gap between management and development, help them decide if, when, and where to refactor. In particular, the metrics scores, compared against industrial benchmarks, faithfully reflected the practitioners' intuitions about the maintainability of their projects, and enabled them to better understand the maintainability relative to other projects internal to their company, and to other industrial products. The automatically detected architecture flaws and roots enabled the practitioners to precisely pinpoint, visualize, and quantify the “hotspots” within the systems that are responsible for high maintenance costs. Except for the two smallest projects for which both architecture metrics indicated high maintainability, all other projects are planning or have already begun refactorings to address the problems detected by our analyses. We are working on further automating the tool chain, and transforming the analysis suite into deployable services accessible by all projects within the company.

05 Dec 1994TL;DR: In this article, an electrical insulating material having a matrix composed of at least one polymer in which one insulating mineral, which is constructed in the form of platelets, is embedded is presented.
Abstract: The invention is based on an electrical insulating material having a matrix composed of at least one polymer in which at least one insulating mineral, which is constructed in the form of platelets, is embedded. It is intended to create an insulating material which is suitable for the production of insulation which is free of partial discharge even at high voltages (stresses) and at comparatively high operating temperatures. This is achieved in that a temperature-resistant thermoplastic is provided as the polymer, and in that micro-mica platelets having a particle size of less than 20 mu m are embedded as the insulating material. Furthermore, it is intended to specify a method for the production of an electrically insulated conductor in which the insulating material is used.
