14 May 2002TL;DR: In this paper, the control panels of a simulated complex system are displayed as a texture mask over a 3D visual representation of an environment in which the complex system is operating, and an active window underlying the visual display is used to track user inputs to control panels.
Abstract: Control panels of a simulated complex system are displayed as a texture mask over a three-dimensional visual representation of an environment in which the complex system is operating. The three-dimensional visual representation is displayed in an inactive window to a user practicing or training on the simulated system. An active window underlying the visual display is used to track user inputs to the control panels. Smart graphics translate the user inputs into data elements that are sent to a full-scope simulation, and simulation conditions are returned and used to update the display of the control panels and the visual representation of the environment.

11 Oct 1996TL;DR: A gas turbine has a mainly axial-flow two-stage compressor (1A, 1B), with an intercooler, and at least one combustion chamber (7,8), one or more turbines (2A,2B), and a recuperator in which the compressor air is heated to the inlet temperature in the combustion chamber.
Abstract: A gas turbine has a mainly axial-flow two-stage compressor (1A,1B), with an intercooler (5). It also has at least one combustion chamber (7,8), one or more turbines (2A,2B), and a recuperator (6) in which the compressor air is heated to the inlet temperature in the combustion chamber (7). At least a first compressor component (1A) has water injectors (12), and the intercooler has equipment for water recuperation (13). The latter is connected to the injectors via a delivery pump (14). The injectors may be arranged in the compressor in the plane of the stator blades, and may also be arranged over the entire height of the compressor duct.

TL;DR: In this paper, a novel approach for damping interarea oscillations in a bulk power network using multiple unified power flow controllers (UPFCs) utilizing ultracapacitors, also known more generally as electrochemical capacitors (ECs), is discussed.
Abstract: This paper discusses a novel approach for damping interarea oscillations in a bulk power network using multiple unified power flow controllers (UPFCs) utilizing ultracapacitors, also known more generally as electrochemical capacitors (ECs). In this paper, a new control is introduced to mitigate interarea oscillations by directly controlling the UPFCs' sending and receiving bus voltages that better utilizes the stored energy in the ECs. The results of this controller are compared with and without ECs. The proposed control provides better interarea oscillation mitigation when applied to multiple UPFCs in the 118-bus IEEE test system.

24 Nov 1992TL;DR: In this article, a calibration tool supported by a robot hand is brought into contact with a spherical calibration body with a known radius, and the output signals from the position transducers of the robot axes are read and stored.
Abstract: In a calibration method for an industrial robot (2-6), a calibration tool (8) supported by the robot hand (6) is brought into contact a spherical calibration body (7) with a known radius. Thereafter, the output signals from the position transducers of the robot axes are read and stored. This method is repeated a plurality of times with different robot configurations. Thereafter, the calibration parameters of the robot are calculated starting from the kinematic equations of the robot, a model of the relationship between axial position and position transducer signal, the known radius of the calibration body, and the read and stored position transducer signals.
