14 Mar 1997TL;DR: In this paper, an improved bearing support arrangement for rapidly rotating rotors, with which arrangement the service life of the bearing device is increased and both its fabrication costs and the expenditure on assembly are reduced.
Abstract: The object of the invention is to provide an improved bearing support arrangement for rapidly rotating rotors, with which arrangement the service life of the bearing device is increased and both its fabrication costs and the expenditure on assembly are reduced. This is achieved according to the invention in that the bearing support arrangement (10) is of one-piece design. It comprises an outer flange (11) connected to the housing (2), a gimbal ring (12) and an inner bearing bush (13) which receives the bearing or the bearings (3). In each case a circumferential slot (14, 15) is formed both between the gimbal ring (12) and the outer flange (11) and between the gimbal ring (12) and the bearing bush (13). The gimbal ring (12) is respectively connected to the bearing bush (13) and to the outer flange (11) via two inner and two outer webs (16, 17) which interrupt the respective circumferential slot (14, 15). The annular gap (25) is formed between the bearing bush (13) and the housing (2) and is arranged axially offset with respect to the gimbal ring (12). At least one centering surface (22, 23) is arranged both on the outer flange (11) and on the housing (2), the said centering surfaces (22, 23) being arranged so as to correspond to one another and so as to be concentric with respect to the bearing/bearings (3).

11 Oct 1989TL;DR: The power resistor as discussed by the authors is a flat metallic resistance element with two electrical terminals having holes for connection to external conductors, which can be mfd from a sheet material with a high specific resistance.
Abstract: The power resistor (1), for use in rectifier units for railed vehicles, consists of a flat metallic resistance element with two electrical terminals (3, 4) having holes for connection to external conductors. The resistance element has a zig-zag shape and can be mfd. from a sheet material with a high specific resistance. It is connected directly to at least one electrically non-conductive liquid coolant body (11), pref. of AIN, with inlet and outlet (12, 13) for coolant. ADVANTAGE - Small vol. with high performance.

TL;DR: In this paper, a phase diagram of double-chain compounds YBa2Cu4O8 (124) and Y2Ba4Cu7O15−x (247) is presented, showing that structural changes and incorporation of impurities occur only in the single chain "123" unit whereas the double chain "124" unit remains stable.

29 Jun 2006TL;DR: In this paper, a self-propelled inspection apparatus for travelling along a power line is described, which is able to pivot the body unit in relation to the propulsion units about the respective joint.
Abstract: The invention relates to a self-propelled inspection apparatus (1) for travelling along a power line (2), comprising:
- a body unit (10);
- a first propulsion unit (40), which is pivotally connected to the body unit via a first joint (12) and releasably engageable with and driveable along a power line;
- a second propulsion unit (60), which is pivotally connected to the body unit via a second joint (13) and releasably engageable with and driveable along a power line;
- actuators for pivoting the body unit in relation to the propulsion units about the respective joint; and
- centre of gravity displacement means (20) allowing the centre of gravity of the inspection apparatus to be moved back and forth between a first point (P1) located at or in the vicinity of said first joint and a second point (P2) located at or in the vicinity of said second joint.

18 Aug 2003TL;DR: In this paper, a method and apparatus for controlling the combustion byproduct formation rate in at least one burner of a fossil fuel fired power plant is described, where the burner has an associated flame scanner which is focused on a small area of the burner flame to obtain an image signal of the flame.
Abstract: There is described a method and apparatus for controlling the combustion by-product formation rate in at least one burner of a fossil fuel fired power plant. The burner has an associated flame scanner which is focused on a small area of the burner flame to obtain an image signal of the flame. A flame signal that represents properties of temporal combustion in the visible light spectrum of the burner is generated from the image signal. Combustion turbulence at the burner is analyzed from the flame signal by a dynamic invariant that has a relationship to the combustion by-product values and different combustion by-product levels at the burner and the combustion turbulence is correlated to the combustion by-product formation rate at the burner.The method and apparatus can also be used to correlated the combustion turbulence at a multiplicity of burners to the associated combustion by-product formation rate.
