TL;DR: In this article, a new method for selective metal deposition on aluminum nitride (AIN) is presented, which is used for local decomposition of AIN in air, and the degree of surface modification depends on the fluence and number of pulses.
Abstract: A new method for selective metal deposition on aluminum nitride (AIN) is presented. Excimer laser radiation is used for local decomposition of AIN in air. The degree of the surface modification depends on the fluence and number of pulses. A distinct wavelength dependence of the threshold fluence decomposition of AIN was found. The irradiated surface regions act as catalysts in conventional electroless metal plating baths. Structured metal coatings of various elements (Cu, Ni, Au, Pd, etc.) on AIN can thus be obtained in a simple way.

TL;DR: An overvoltage protection device (SK) of a transient protection type in a series-connection of an arbitrary number of power semiconductors (T1, D1) is intended to reduce the risk of overvoltages across a power semiconductor in a chain (P1,...PN) of series-connected PPPs as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: An overvoltage protection device (SK) of a transient protection type in a series-connection of an arbitrary number of power semiconductors (T1, D1), intended to reduce the risk of overvoltage across a power semiconductor in a chain (P1,...PN) of series-connected power semiconductors (T1, D1), wherein the overvoltage protection device (SK) comprises at least one capacitor (C) and wherein the overvoltage protection device (SK) is activated when the voltage across the power semiconductor (T1, D1) exceeds the specified voltage level (Vprot), whereby the task of said capacitor (C) is to limit the voltage derivative (dVCE/dt) across the power semiconductor when the voltage across the power semiconductor exceeds the specified voltage level (Vprot). The overvoltage protection device limits too high a voltage growth across individual power semiconductors in the chain.

TL;DR: Two well-known life-cycle models have been mapped to the ABB Gate Model, a business decision model for product development projects that was developed to ensure that released products could be successfully deployed into the marketplace.
Abstract: Developing the right products the right way is challenging, not least in software product development. It requires sound business decisions as well as good engineering practices. Various software development life-cycle models can be mapped to business decision models by mapping business decision gates and major development milestones. Two well-known life-cycle models have been mapped to the ABB Gate Model, a business decision model for product development projects that was developed to ensure that released products could be successfully deployed into the marketplace.

TL;DR: Experimental results demonstrate that the teaching methodology consisting of both the course content and pedagogy was useful in imparting the desired skills and knowledge to elementary level children.
Abstract: We present our approach and experiences in teaching computational thinking, problem solving, team-work and project management skills to several elementary level children using Lego Mindstorms EV3 robotics education kit. We taught students how to design, construct and program robots using components such as motors, sensors, wheels, axles, beams, connectors and gears. Students also gained knowledge on basic programming constructs such as control flow, loops, branches and conditions using a visual programming environment. We carefully observed how students performed various tasks and solved problems. We present experimental results which demonstrates that our teaching methodology consisting of both the course content and pedagogy was useful in imparting the desired skills and knowledge to elementary level children.

TL;DR: An automatic technique for generating maintainable regression unit tests for programs that achieves good coverage and mutation kill score, were readable by the product's developers, and required few edits as the system under test evolved.
Abstract: This paper presents an automatic technique for generating maintainable regression unit tests for programs. We found previous test generation techniques inadequate for two main reasons. First. they were designed for and evaluated upon libraries rather than applications. Second, they were designed to find bugs rather than to create maintainable regression test suites: the test suites that they generated were brittle and hard to understand. This paper presents a suite of techniques that address these problems by enhancing an existing unit test generation system. In experiments using an industrial system, the generated tests achieved good coverage and mutation kill score, were readable by the product's developers, and required few edits as the system under test evolved. While our evaluation is in the context of one test generator, we are aware of many research systems that suffer similar limitations, so our approach and observations are more generally relevant.
