TL;DR: In this paper, a transformerless generation of HVDC is described, where the installation comprises rotating high-voltage single-winding/multiple-witching machines and converters.
Abstract: The present invention relates to installations for transformerless generation of HVDC and wherein the installation comprises rotating high-voltage single-winding/multiple-winding machines and converters. The single-winding/multiple-winding machine comprises a magnetic circuit with one or more magnetic cores and one or more windings, phase-shifted in space, which comprise a cable with one or more current-carrying conductors (2), each conductor comprising a number of strands, around each strand there being arranged an inner semiconducting layer (3), around which is arranged an insulating layer (4) of solid insulation, around which is arranged an outer semiconducting layer (5).

TL;DR: In this article, a method of joining metal parts by fusion arc welding in a weld of small volume includes the steps of providing the metal parts to be joined having a first side which accessible to a welding operation and a second side opposite the first side, a step joining the flanks.
Abstract: A method of joining metal parts by fusion arc welding in a weld of small volume includes the steps of providing the metal parts to be joined having a first side which accessible to a welding operation and a second side opposite the first side. The metal parts have welding surfaces shaped to have a first flank adjacent the first side and a second flank adjacent the second side, a step joining the flanks. Each part has a relief bulge formed in the second side adjacent the second flank, and a centering offset at the second flank to position the metal parts relative to one another for welding. The relief bulge is provided to ensure that the centering offsets melt during welding, and is shaped to have a sufficient size so that a predetermined melt-through point develops for melting of the centering offset during welding. The metal parts are positioned for welding by abutting the second flanks at the centering offset, the parts being positioned so that the first flanks define therebetween a first gap and the second flanks define therebetween a second gap, the second gap being narrower than the first gap. In a first welding step, the metal parts are joined at the second flanks by one of a fully automatic tungsten inert-gas welding process (GTAW) or gas metal-arc welding process (GMAW) to form multi-pass welding beads which extend over the entire width of the second gap, and thereafter, the first flanks are joined with a submerged-arc welding process by forming a plurality of welding beads bearing alternately against one and an opposite flank.

TL;DR: In this article, a method and a system for integration of a field device in an installation control system having a communications network and a control station functions in that a field devices transmits a functional description of device functions to the control station in a standardized form.
Abstract: A method and a system for integration of a field device in an installation control system having a communications network and a control station functions in that a field device transmits a functional description of device functions to the control station in a standardized form, whereupon functions associated with the field device are installed on the control station, and communications links are set up between the device functions of the field device and the functions of the control station. In one preferred version of the invention, device functions are automatically or manually combined with an installation structure. The invention is preferably used with high voltage or medium voltage switchgear assemblies and leads to a considerable reduction in the complexity for specification and commissioning of installation internal communications links and to higher quality of a resulting installation control system.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe a network coupling device connected over a respective first and second port in a communication network with a ring topology operating with full duplex links, where the coupling device inserts two duplicate frames in the ring, one over each of its ports.
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments are directed to a network coupling device connected over a respective first and second port in a communication network with a ring topology operating with full duplex links. When sending information, the coupling device inserts two duplicate frames in the ring, one over each of its ports. The frames containing information that identifies these two frames as a pair of duplicates of the same frame. Each similar device in the ring includes a Switching Element that receives a frame from one port and forwards the frame to the other port without modification. The Switching Element discards a frame that was originally sent by that same node, discards a frame that it already forwarded in that direction, and/or discards a frame that it cannot recognize as being a member of a pair. A further similar device on the ring is able to receive the two duplicate frames and pass the earlier received frames of a pair to the application, while discarding the later, received frames based on the identification within the frames.

TL;DR: In this paper, a two-stage combustion chamber with two primary burners and two secondary burners is considered, where the primary burner is of flame-stabilizing design, i.e. they are designed without a mechanical flame retention baffle.
Abstract: A combustion chamber with two-stage combustion has primary burners (110) of the premix type of construction, in which the fuel injected via nozzles (117) is intensively mixed with the combustion air inside a premix space (115) prior to ignition. The primary burners are of flame-stabilizing design, i.e. they are designed without a mechanical flame retention baffle. They are provided with tangential inflow of the combustion air into the premix space (115). Arranged downstream of a precombustion chamber (61) are secondary burners (150) which are designed as premix burners which do not operate by themselves.
