Abstract: A device for high-pressure treatment, in particular of liquid substances which contain components with a consistency different from that of the liquid. The device comprises a cylinder member (1), two end members (2, 3), a high-pressure piston (4), two high-pressure seals (8, 9) and connection means comprising channels and valve members to conduct the substance to and from the cylinder member (1). When the substance is pressurized, the cylinder member (1), at least one of the end members (3), the high-pressure piston (4) and the two high-pressure seals (8, 9) delimit a high-pressure chamber (10). The connection means are arranged outside the high-pressure chamber and preferably in respective end members (2, 3).

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provide recommendations on the solid state circuit breaker topologies that provide the best performance-cost tradeoff based on the application for low and medium voltage shipboard system protection.
Abstract: The increasing need for better performance, protection, and reliability in shipboard power distribution systems, and the increasing availability of power semiconductors is generating the potential for solid state circuit breakers to replace traditional electromechanical circuit breakers. This paper reviews various solid state circuit breaker topologies that are suitable for low and medium voltage shipboard system protection. Depending on the application solid state circuit breakers can have different main circuit topologies, fault detection methods, commutation methods of power semiconductor devices, and steady state operation after tripping. This paper provides recommendations on the solid state circuit breaker topologies that provides the best performance-cost tradeoff based on the application.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for monitoring the condition of an industrial robot having a plurality of links movable relative to each other, and a multiplicity of actuators controlling the movements of the links is presented.
Abstract: A method for monitoring the condition of an industrial robot having a plurality of links movable relative to each other, and a plurality of actuators controlling the movements of the links. A feed forward torque is calculated for at least one of the actuators based on reference values for the position of the actuator and a mathematical model of the robot calculating a feedback torque for the actuators based on measured values from the actuators and reference values for the position of the actuator. A torque is calculated for the actuator at least based on the feedback torque. A difference is monitored between the calculated torque for the actuator and the feed forward torque. It is determined whether the difference is normal or non-normal, and based thereon monitoring the condition of the robot.

TL;DR: In this article, a high voltage power cable termination with inner first tube means (5) and outer conducting means (e.g., superconducting means, whose electrically conducting properties improve at low temperatures) is presented.
Abstract: A high voltage power cable termination (1) comprising a current lead (3), a power cable (2) having inner first tube means (5) and outer conducting means, e.g. superconducting means, whose electrically conducting properties improve at low temperatures, arranged around the first tube means and intended in use to be cooled to low temperatures by cryogenic fluid flowing through the first tube means (5), joint means (4) electrically connecting one end of the current lead (3) to the conducting means at one end of the cable at or adjacent one end of the first tube means (5), and second tube means (10) communicating with the first tube means (5) at or adjacent to the joint means (4) for conveying cryogenic fluid to or from the first tube means (5). The first and second tube means (5, 10) are arranged so that, in use, no cryogenic fluid conveyed by the tubes contacts the conducting means or the current lead (3) at the joint means (4). The invention also relates to electrical apparatus, e.g. a high voltage induction device, having such a termination.

TL;DR: SITELLE as discussed by the authors is a Michelson-type interferometer able to reconstruct the spectrum of every light source within its 11' field of view in filter-selected bands of the visible (350 to 900 nm).
Abstract: We present an overview of SITELLE, an Imaging Fourier Transform Spectrometer (iFTS) available at the 3.6-meter Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope. SITELLE is a Michelson-type interferometer able to reconstruct the spectrum of every light source within its 11' field of view in filter-selected bands of the visible (350 to 900 nm). The spectral resolution can be adjusted up to R = 10 000 and the spatial resolution is seeing-limited and sampled at 0.32 arcsec per pixel. We describe the design of the instrument as well as the data reduction and analysis process. To illustrate SITELLE's capabilities, we present some of the data obtained during and since the August 2015 commissioning run. In particular, we demonstrate its ability to separate the components of the [OII] $\lambda\lambda$ 3726,29 doublet in Orion and to reach R = 9500 around H-alpha; to detect diffuse emission at a level of 4 x 10e-17 erg/cm2/s/arcsec2; to obtain integrated spectra of stellar absorption lines in galaxies despite the well-known multiplex disadvantage of the iFTS; and to detect emission-line galaxies at different redshifts.
