Abstract: The mixed ferrite sample Ni0.5−xMgxCu0.2Cd0.3Fe2O4 (0.0 ≤ x ≤ 0.5, in the steps 0.1) has been synthesized employing sol–gel auto-combustion process. From XRD diffractograms, it has been observed the simple cubic spinel structure of the ferrite samples. With the substitution of Mg ion, both the experimental and theoretical lattice constant increased. For x = 0.0, the value of experimental lattice constant has been found 8.459 A, which increases to a value 8.490 A for x = 0.5. The surface morphology has been studied by FESEM images. Besides, the chemical composition and the elemental distribution of the sample have been revealed by EDS study. From the vibration band, the formation of spinel ferrite has been confirmed from the FT-IR spectra. It is seen that the samples exhibit ferrimagnetic behavior at room temperature, which has been shown by the magnetic measurement done by VSM. Dielectric constant, dielectric loss tangent, ac conductivity, and impedance Spectroscopy have been analyzed within the range 20 Hz–15 MHz. In the lower frequency region, a typical dielectric dispersion based on Maxwell–Wagner type interfacial polarization has been observed. Dielectric loss tangent exhibits an analogous sort of behavior as that of dielectric constant. The grain and grain boundary effect on electric properties have been studied from the complex impedance analysis. It has been seen that both the grain resistance and grain boundary resistance increase with the substitution of Mg2+ content. A rise in ac conductivity has been observed with the increase in frequency.

Abstract: Braille is a writing system that allows the visually impaired people to read by sensing different combination of raised dots on paper. Our system is a two handed braille system that focuses on communication of visually impaired people with computer. Visually impaired people lack in transferring their thoughts due to their incapability to interact with others in social interaction. There are only a few resources printed in braille system. This system will allow the visually impaired people to read any text given as input in the computer. Although Braille Gloves is different from traditional braille in the sense that it needs no braille embosser or any paper, it is easy to understand if one knows braille. The graphical user interface, designed in java, works as the input space and converts each character to Unicode. The six pager motors mounted on fingertips of the index finger, middle finger and ring finger of each hand glove represents six dots in braille. Vibration corresponds to a raised dot. Motors are controlled by an algorithm embedded on Arduino Uno board. The proposed system can convert all Bengali characters efficiently. Experimental results with visually impaired students show that the recognition accuracy is about 90% for single character and 69.4% for the word respectively.

Abstract: Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is the dominant transport protocol in the Internet and supports many of the most popular Internet applications, such as the World Wide Web (www), file transfer and e-mail. TCP assumes congestion which is the primary cause of packet loss and uses congestion control mechanisms such as Tahoe, Reno and New Reno to overcome this congestion in wireless network. These TCP variants take longer time to detect and recover packet loss. In order to improve retransmission scheme, we propose a modified version of New Reno that shows better performance than previous TCP variants because of utilizing faster retransmission scheme as well as transferring more packets to the destination.

Abstract: Energy consumption is an indicator of development of the universe. Modern world needs a huge amount of electrical power to meet up the current demand whereas the resources of conventional energy sources are diminishing steadily in response of vast consumption of energy. So, alternate sources of energy are required not only to fill up the large gap between demand and supply of electricity but also they should be clean, environment friendly and sustainable. This research work is based on the piezoelectric effect in which certain materials have the ability to build up an electrical charge from having pressure and strain applied to them. This research paper focused on the applications of auto street light for transportation facilities using that energy. When the roads or the tires of vehicle are engineered with piezoelectric technology, the energy produced by the pressure of moving vehicles is captured by piezo sensors and converted it into electrical charge by Lead Zirconium Titanate as a Piezoelectric Transducer (PZT), then stored the energy and used as an energy generation source. This energy source can be used for auto street lighting as a source of roadside power generation unit. In this research work, generated voltage and current depend on the system configuration of PZT, stress on the PZT, displacement of PZT from its original state and the way of connection of PZT plates.

Abstract: A few models to simulate surface runoff generation at the agricultural field scale are available. However, most of the available models are developed for particular setup with certain assumptions, which preclude their universal use. There are no guidelines to choose a model best suited for a particular agricultural field. The major objective of this study is to estimate the surface runoff in the Muda irrigation scheme, by applying seven well-known hydrological models. The surface runoff amounts estimated using these models are compared with the observed runoff collected at an agricultural block in the scheme. The model performances are evaluated based on the mean runoff to precipitation ratio, relative mean absolute error, and the coefficient of determination criteria. The results suggest that the Smith-Parlange nonlinear model has matched satisfactorily with the observed surface runoff. The performances of the Philip, ARNO and Morel-Seytoux models are found to be close to the Smith-Parlange model. Thus, the mean runoff estimated by Smith-Parlange, Philip, ARNO, and Morel-Seytoux models can be regarded as the surface runoff in the study area.
