TL;DR: In this paper, a case study of the effectiveness of truss supporting during replacement of damaged columns in a high-rise frame structure building is presented. And the numerical analysis of the 2-D frame with undamaged columns, damaged column and damaged column with truss support is carried out using finite element software STAAD Pro 2004.
Abstract: Truss supporting (TS) is a technique to support a building frame for replacing column when its stiffness reduces due to any kind of damage. This paper deals about the effectiveness of TS during replacement of damaged column in a high-rise frame structure building. For the case study of the effectiveness of TS, six columns that are damaged columns at different positions in the ground and first floors were taken into consideration. A suitable type of truss was modelled to transfer the load of damaged column to the lower column just below the damaged column. The numerical analysis of the 2-D frame with undamaged columns, damaged column and damaged column with truss supporting, was carried out using finite element software STAAD Pro 2004. The deflection, axial force, shear force and bending moment of the structural elements (beam & column) for TS case were obtained almost same as their design values

TL;DR: On account of a Parkinson disease, step lengths, and stride lengths both are shorter than healthy individuals and a quantitative connection between these parameters are determined here.
Abstract: Parkinson’s disease is a neurological disease which prevails in a patient for the long term. Losing control over the gait cycle is a common phenomenon which leads to a deviation in the gait cycle of the patient. The variation of the gait cycle can be explained in two approaches: temporal variation and spatial variation. In this paper, an analysis which exclusively focuses on the spatial variation is done to determine the gait cycle deviation of Parkinson patients from a healthy person. This work analyzes the step lengths and stride lengths of the patients without the help of any external influence and compares the results against the healthy subjects. From the study, it ends up clear that on account of a Parkinson disease, step lengths, and stride lengths both are shorter than healthy individuals and a quantitative connection between these parameters are determined here.

16 Dec 2020TL;DR: In this article, the authors incorporated the tweets relevant to the Australian federal Election 2019, with a view to serve their primary purpose of predicting the outcome of it, aggregated two efficacious techniques to extract the information from a large Twitter dataset to count a virtual support for each corresponding political group and propose an approach of reducing users' biases in OSNs to predict outcome of the election more efficiently.
Abstract: Several online social networking sites (OSNs) are being used as a medium of expressing any ideas, opinions, thoughts towards any regular or special issues and also for support or even oppose any social or political matters at the same time. At the age of this modern technology, in any country, people would like to post their views regarding any political party during the election period on such emerging OSNs in order to demonstrate their stands upon them. In this paper, we incorporated the tweets relevant to the Australian federal Election 2019, with a view to serve our primary purpose of predicting the outcome of it. We aggregated two efficacious techniques to extract the information from a large Twitter dataset to count a virtual support for each corresponding political group and propose an approach of reducing users’ biases in OSNs to predict outcome of the election more efficiently. Our investigation finds close relevance with the original results of the election published by the Australian Electoral Commission.

01 Dec 2018TL;DR: In this paper, a new photonic crystal fiber (PCF) structure is proposed having modified plus-shaped geometry also having multiple defects of two different shapes-circular and elliptical.
Abstract: Nowadays, Photonic Crystal Fiber (PCF) based structures have become a profound research interest worldwide and have been widely applied in many fields because of their flexible and controllable characteristics. Photonic Crystal Fiber is an individual category of optical fiber having periodic air holes in the cladding. A new PCF structure is proposed having modified plus shaped geometry also having multiple defects of two different shapes-circular and elliptical. Confinement loss, dispersion and birefringence performance of the structure is analyzed. Low loss with small but non-zero dispersion for both defects is obtained at the telecommunication optical wavelength (S+C+L) bands. The structure also offers high birefringence of $4. 77\mathrm {x}10^{-2}$ at $1.55\mu \mathrm {m}$ operating wavelength. Structure design and simulation have been carried out adopting COMSOL Multiphysics software based on the full vectorial finite element method (FEM) with perfectly matched layer (PML) boundary conditions. The structure can be considered as a viable option for optical sensing and optical communication systems like, long-haul data transmission, wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and many others.
