TL;DR: The molecular mechanisms that underlie the anti-obesogenic and antidiabetic effects of several plants and mushrooms contain antioxidants, fibre and other phytochemicals, and it is proposed that combining these food items with existing anti-OBesogenic approaches might help to reduce obesity and its complications.
Abstract: Obesity is reaching global epidemic proportions as a result of factors such as high-calorie diets and lack of physical exercise. Obesity is now considered to be a medical condition, which not only contributes to the risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease and cancer, but also negatively affects longevity and quality of life. To combat this epidemic, anti-obesogenic approaches are required that are safe, widely available and inexpensive. Several plants and mushrooms that are consumed in traditional Chinese medicine or as nutraceuticals contain antioxidants, fibre and other phytochemicals, and have anti-obesogenic and antidiabetic effects through the modulation of diverse cellular and physiological pathways. These effects include appetite reduction, modulation of lipid absorption and metabolism, enhancement of insulin sensitivity, thermogenesis and changes in the gut microbiota. In this Review, we describe the molecular mechanisms that underlie the anti-obesogenic and antidiabetic effects of these plants and mushrooms, and propose that combining these food items with existing anti-obesogenic approaches might help to reduce obesity and its complications.

TL;DR: In this article, the results of several studies of the Λc+π+π-X final state in continuum e+e- annihilation data collected by the Belle detector were reported.
Abstract: We report the results of several studies of the Λc+π+π-X final state in continuum e+e- annihilation data collected by the Belle detector. An analysis of angular distributions in Λc(2880)+→Σc(2455)0, ++π+,- decays strongly favors a Λc(2880)+ spin assignment of 52 over 32 or 12. We find evidence for Λc(2880)+→Σc(2520)0,++π+,- decay and measure the ratio of Λc(2880)+ partial widths Γ(Σc(2520)π)/Γ(Σc(2455)π)=0.225±0. 062±0.025. This value favors the Λc(2880)+ spin-parity assignment of 52+ over 52-. We also report the first observation of Λc(2940) +→Σc(2455)0,++π+,- decay and measure Λc(2880)+ and Λc(2940)+ mass and width parameters. These studies are based on a 553fb-1 data sample collected at or near the Υ(4S) resonance at the KEKB collider. © 2007 The American Physical Society.

TL;DR: An improved authentication of the batch scheme based on bilinear pairing is proposed to make VANET more secure, efficient, and more suitable for practical use.
Abstract: Vehicular Ad-Hoc Network (VANET) is an application of Ad-Hoc Network, which can significantly improve the efficiency of transportation systems. The authentication of information is particularly important in the VANET system, because of its significant impact, and the transportation systems may be paralyzed as a result of receiving the wrong traffic information. Hence, a lot of schemes have been proposed to verify the information of VANET. However, most of currently known schemes verify the information on a one by one basis. In real situation, the large amount of traffic flow will generate a lot of information at the same time. If the authentication method is authenticating one by one, it is bound to lead to information delays, and the system will have difficulty to achieve real-time performance. Therefore, we shall propose an improved authentication of the batch scheme based on bilinear pairing to make VANET more secure, efficient, and more suitable for practical use.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explored the factors that influence creative teaching and found out what effective strategies are used by three award-winning teachers in the learning area of Integrated Activities, including persistence, willingness to develop, acceptance of new experiences, self-confidence, sense of humour, curiosity, depth of ideas, imagination, etc.
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to explore the factors that influence creative teaching and to find out what effective strategies are used by three award-winning teachers in the learning area of Integrated Activities. As creative thinking is crucial for the knowledge economy, it is essential that education serves its purpose in improving this important aspect. The methods used for data collection include in-depth interview, focus group interview, classroom observation and content analysis. Three teachers with a GreaTeach Creative Instruction Award for creative teaching in the Integrated Activities field were selected as subjects. Results were acquired by analysing the interview content, the teaching plans, teachers’ reflection and the classroom observation videotapes. The study found that: the factors influencing creative teaching in Integrative Activities are (a) personality traits: persistence, willingness to develop, acceptance of new experiences, self-confidence, sense of humour, curiosity, depth of ideas, imagination, etc.; (b) family factors: open and tolerant ways of teaching children, creative performance of parents, etc.; (c) experiences of growth and education: self-created games and stories, brainstorming between classmates, etc.; (d) beliefs in teaching, hard work, motivation and (e) the administrative side of school organization. Among these factors, beliefs in teaching, hard work and motivation are the main aspects. The effective teaching strategies used by the awarded teachers are: student-centred activities, a connection between teaching contents and real life, management of skills in class, open-ended questions, an encouragement of creative thinking and use of technology and multimedia. Integrated Activities are closely connected to life experience and a basis for the development of creative thinking within education.
