Abstract: In 2011, as part of the Obesity Plan, the French health minister designated 37 specialist obesity centres. These centres, spread across France, are dedicated to managing severe obesity and form an important part of the organisation of the treatment of obese patients, from the provision of medical and paramedical care in the community to hospitalisation in cutting-edge units. The programme is based on a specific structure favouring the modelling and management of the individualised care pathway.
