02 Nov 1995TL;DR: In this article, an apparatus for optimizing the dosage of a chemical waste water treatment agent using a fluorescent tracer by processing a sample of the waste water stream and allowing continuous on-stream monitoring of the performance of the chemical wastewater treatment agent.
Abstract: The invention comprises an apparatus for optimizing the dosage of a chemical waste water treatment agent using a fluorescent tracer by processing a sample of the waste water stream and allowing continuous on-stream monitoring of the performance of the chemical waste water treatment agent. The apparatus is comprised of a series of components that sample the waste stream, process the sample for analysis, analyze the sample, record the data in a historical database and, based upon the analysis as compared to historical data, adjust the chemical feed system to optimize the chemical waste water treatment agent according to the programmed optimization logic.

15 Jan 1988TL;DR: In this article, gypsum scale inhibitors are considered for wet flue gas desulfurization (FGD) scrubber temperature and pH conditions, and combinations thereof are also considered.
Abstract: Gypsum scale inhibitors useful under wet flue gas desulfurization (FGD) scrubber temperature and pH conditions. The gypsum inhibitors advantageously prevent or minimize gypsum scale formation and crystal growth in mist eliminator wash water and in the scrubber internals. Specific inhibitors contemplated include copolymers of modified acrylic acid/acrylamide; acrylic acid/vinyl acetate; acrylic acid/maleic anhydride; acrylic acid/acrylate ester; and combinations thereof. In addition, gypsum scale inhibitors comprising phosphonate-polymer blends of hexamethylene diamine tetra (methylene phosphonic acid) salts and polymaleate, poly(acrylic acid/ethylacrylate), poly(acrylic acid/N-methoxypropyl acrylamide/acrylamide), poly(acrylic acid/N-propyl acrylamide/acrylamide), and combinations thereof are also contemplated.

18 Dec 1995TL;DR: In this article, hydrophilic cationic copolymers of acrylamide are prepared as dispersions in a salt media and are readily activated by diluting in water.
Abstract: Hydrophilic cationic copolymers of acrylamide are prepared as dispersions in a salt media. These polymers have high molecular weights and are readily activated by diluting in water. These polymers are useful flocculants for such applications as sludge dewatering, raw water clarification aids, emulsion breakers and waste water clarification aids.

09 Sep 1983TL;DR: In this article, water-soluble terpolymers comprising of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane-sulfonic acid, sodium salt (AMPS) and 6-28 acrylonitrile 20-35 were used for high temperature fluid loss additives and rheology stabilizers for high calcium-containing brine clay drilling fluids.
Abstract: OF THE DISCLOSURE Novel water-soluble terpolymers comprising: Ingredients Mole % 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane-sulfonic acid, sodium salt (AMPS) 51-59 N,N-dimethylacrylamide 6-28 acrylonitrile 20-35 These terpolymers provide high temperature fluid loss additives and rheology stabilizers for high calcium-containing brine clay drilling fluids.
