22 Aug 2008TL;DR: In this paper, a method for monitoring the deposition of one or more organic materials dispersed in an aqueous medium in a papermaking process is presented, which is based on measuring the rate of deposition of the organic materials from the annealing medium on to a quartz crystal microbalance.
Abstract: A method for monitoring the deposition of one or more organic materials dispersed in an aqueous medium in a papermaking process comprising: measuring the rate of deposition of the organic materials from the aqueous medium on-to a quartz crystal microbalance having a top side contacting with the aqueous medium coated with a layer containing a non-swelling epoxy resin or a silicon containing polymer, and a second, bottom side isolated from the aqueous medium is disclosed. Additionally, a method for measuring the effectiveness of an inhibitor that decreases the deposition of the organic materials in a papermaking process is also disclosed.

21 Dec 1981TL;DR: In this article, a method for reducing slag build-up in cyclone furnaces comprising introducing into a cyclone furnace at least one of a slag viscosity modifier and a combustion adjuvant, wherein a substantial portion thereof is conveyed to the walls of the furnace by addition through the secondary air stream.
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for reducing slag build-up in cyclone furnaces comprising introducing into a cyclone furnace at least one of a slag viscosity modifier and a combustion adjuvant, wherein a substantial portion thereof is conveyed to the walls of the furnace by addition through the secondary air stream. Preferably the additives are formed as particles of sufficient size and density that they are driven directly to the walls of the furnace. This method alleviates slag build-up caused by the presence of uncombusted coal particles at the walls and increases the temperature environment at the walls.

20 Apr 2012TL;DR: In this paper, a microemulsion-based demulsifier composition and a method of demulsifying an emulsion comprising hydrocarbon and water are presented. But the demulsifiers are not described.
Abstract: Disclosed and claimed is a microemulsion-based demulsifier composition and a method of demulsifying an emulsion comprising hydrocarbon and water. The demulsifier composition includes (i) an oil-like phase comprising at least one nonionic surfactant having a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) of less than about 9; (ii) a coupling agent capable of stabilizing the demulsifier composition; (iii) at least one water-soluble or dispersible nonionic surfactant that is different from the at least one nonionic surfactant in the oil-like phase; (iv) at least one additional surfactant selected from anionic, cationic, amphoteric, and combinations thereof; (v) at least one nonionic demulsifier; and (vi) water.
