14 Jul 1993TL;DR: A hydrophobic polyelectrolyte copolymer which is useful in the removal of color in paper mill waste water is described in this article, where an acrylamide and a hydrophilic monomer are selected from the group consisting of quaternized dimethylaminoethylacrylates and quaternised dimethyliminoethylmethacrylsates.
Abstract: A hydrophobic polyelectrolyte copolymer which is useful in the removal of color in paper mill waste water. The copolymer preferably comprises an acrylamide and a hydrophobic monomer selected from the group consisting of quaternized dimethylaminoethylacrylates and quaternized dimethylaminoethylmethacrylates.

29 Oct 1975TL;DR: Anhydrous magnesium chloride may be prepared from magnesium chloride hydrates by the following sequence of processing steps: 1. Dissolving the magnesium chloride hydrate in ethylene glycol to form a magnesium-hydrate solution. 2. Heating the thus-formed solution to remove all the water therefrom, thereby forming a ethylene- glycol anhydrous anion solution.
Abstract: Anhydrous magnesium chloride may be prepared from magnesium chloride hydrates by the following sequence of processing steps: 1. Dissolving the magnesium chloride hydrate in ethylene glycol to form a magnesium chloride hydrate solution. 2. Heating the thus-formed solution to remove all the water therefrom thereby forming a ethylene glycol anhydrous magnesium chloride solution. 3. Treating the water-free magnesium chloride-ethylene glycol solution with ammonia to form a magnesium chloride ammonia complex which precipitates from the ethylene glycol. 4. Removing the precipitate from the ethylene glycol and washing it with a low boiling solvent for ethylene glycol to remove any ethylene glycol entrained in the precipitate. 5. Heating the magnesium chloride ammonia complex to drive off the ammonia which leaves as a finished product completely anhydrous magnesium chloride.

19 May 1989TL;DR: In this article, a method of treating underground formations by fracturing by utilization of a fluid loss additive (FLA) comprising starch or a mixture of natural and modified starches plus an enzyme which degrades the alpha linkage of starch and does not the degrade the beta linkage of guar and modified guar where used as a viscosity modifier.
Abstract: In treating oil well down hole bores, a method of treating subterranean formations by fracturing by utilization of a fluid loss additive (FLA) comprising starch or a mixture of natural and modified starches plus an enzyme which degrades the alpha linkage of starch and does not the degrade the beta linkage of guar and modified guar where used as a viscosity modifier. Natural/modified starches are utilized in a preferred ratio of 3:7 to 7:3 or 1:9 to 9:1 with optimum at 1:1, and the mix is used in the dry form for application from the surface down the bore hole.

19 May 1999TL;DR: In this paper, a method for separating Bayer process red mud from a Bayer process liquor is described, which comprises adding to a Bayer Process liquor containing red mud an effective amount of a water soluble synthetic flocculant, dextran and starch combination.
Abstract: The claimed invention is a method for separating Bayer process red mud from a Bayer process liquor which comprises adding to a Bayer process liquor containing red mud an effective amount of a water soluble synthetic flocculant, dextran and starch combination. The flocculant is added anywhere in the slurry containing the red mud suspended in Bayer process liquor, or in a liquor slurry containing bauxite prior to or during digestion. Once the flocculant combination is added, it is mixed sequentially with the Bayer process liquor and the red mud contained in the Bayer process liquor is removed by sedimentation, centrifugation or filtration.

03 Oct 1986TL;DR: A process for substantially neutralizing the volatile acid gases and water present in the condensate of a distilling pertroleum product which comprises treating the distilling product prior to the condensation thereof with at least one amine having a boiling point below 95° C. as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: A process for substantially neutralizing the volatile acid gases and water present in the condensate of a distilling pertroleum product which comprises treating the distilling product prior to the condensation thereof with at least one amine having a boiling point below 95° C. in an amount sufficient to substantially neutralize all of the volatile acid gases present with said petroleum product
