TL;DR: Phosphate and phosphite mono-and di-esters in small amounts function as antifoulant additives in crude oil systems employed as feedstocks in petroleum refining which are subjected to elevated temperatures of from about 100° to 1500° F and which are prone to produce material that deposits and accumulates upon the surfaces of petroleum processing equipment as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: Phosphate and phosphite mono- and di-esters in small amounts function as antifoulant additives in crude oil systems employed as feedstocks in petroleum refining which are subjected to elevated temperatures of from about 100° to 1500° F. and which are prone to produce material that deposits and accumulates upon the surfaces of petroleum processing equipment, such as heat transfer equipment and the like. Such additives not only inhibit and suppress fouling but also reduce fouling in previously fouled refining systems.

TL;DR: In this article, a method of attacking and removing microbial slime in slime covered surfaces and maintaining a slime-free surface as in exposed cooling tower surfaces and in waste water treatment and paper making was proposed.
Abstract: A method of attacking and removing microbial slime in slime covered surfaces and maintaining a slime-free surface as in exposed cooling tower surfaces and in waste water treatment and paper making. This method comprises utilizing an enzyme blend in 2 to 100 parts per million (ppm) of cellulase, alpha-amylase and protease. Such enzyme blends have been found specifically to digest microbial slime and reduce microbial attachment and biofilm. A specific combination of polysaccharide degrading enzymes is a ratio of 2 parts cellulase to 1 alpha-amylase to 1 protease utilized in 2-100 parts per million. Broadly, the alpha-amylase must be at least 1 and the protease may vary from 0.5 to 1 part.

TL;DR: In this article, a method and composition for producing a more coarse alumina trihydrate crystal in a Bayer process pregnant liquor, involving the addition of approximately 5-400 mg/1 of a surfactant oil mixture, was presented.
Abstract: of the Disclosure A method and composition for producing a more coarse alumina trihydrate crystal in a Bayer process pregnant liquor, involving the addition of approximately 5-400 mg/1 of a surfactant oil mixture, the oil dissolving the surfactant which can be selected from a wide range of surfactants which are stable in (hot) caustic solutions and capable of dispersing hydrophobic liquids in the Bayer liquor. The preferred embodiment involves the use of tall-oil fatty acids; a number of equivalent surfactants are also described. The oil or hydrocarbon (hydrophobic) liquid can be selected from paraffinic oils, naphthenic oils, mineral seal oils, fuel oils, and bottoms or residue from a C10 alcohol distillation.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for dewatering coal tailings, clean coal products and mineral slurries with an effective coagulating amount of a combination of a cationic polymer and a starch was proposed.
Abstract: A method for dewatering coal tailings, clean coal products and mineral slurries with an effective coagulating amount of a combination of a cationic polymer and a starch. A preferred cationic polymer is poly(dimethylaminoethylacrylate methyl chloride quaternary salt) and preferred starches are unmodified.

TL;DR: The 1-alkyl-1H-benzimidazol-2-amines represent a novel, alternate chemotype with pure TLR8-agonistic activities and will likely prove useful not only in understandingTLR8 signaling but also perhaps as a candidate vaccine adjuvant.
Abstract: Toll-like receptor (TLR)-8 agonists strongly induce the production of T helper 1-polarizing cytokines and may therefore serve as promising candidate vaccine adjuvants, especially for the very young and the elderly. Earlier structure-based ligand design led to the identification of 3-pentyl-quinoline-2-amine as a novel, human TLR8-specific agonist. Comprehensive structure–activity relationships in ring-contracted 1-alkyl-1H-benzimidazol-2-amines were undertaken, and the best-in-class compound, 4-methyl-1-pentyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-amine, was found to be a pure TLR8 agonist, evoking strong proinflammatory cytokine and Type II interferon responses in human PBMCs, with no attendant CD69 upregulation in natural lymphocytic subsets. The 1-alkyl-1H-benzimidazol-2-amines represent a novel, alternate chemotype with pure TLR8-agonistic activities and will likely prove useful not only in understanding TLR8 signaling but also perhaps as a candidate vaccine adjuvant.
