TL;DR: When the effectiveness of odor treatment was tested in the sewer system using five commercial odor reducing treatments, only the chemical oxidant was good enough to reduce the odor in terms of TRS levels measured before and after the application.
Abstract: Sewer odors have been a concern to citizens of the Metropolitan Seoul region, which has installed combined sewer systems (CSSs) in 86% of its area. Although a variety of odorants are released from sewers, volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs) have been recognized as major ones. A number of technologies have been proposed to monitor or control odors from sewers. One of the most popular strategies adopted for the control of sewage odor is by applying a commercial odor-reducing agent into the sewer. In this study, the effectiveness of five different commercial odor-reducing agents (i.e., an odor masking agent, an alkaline solution, two microbial agents, and a chemical oxidant) was evaluated by continuously monitoring VSCs released from the sewer with an on-line total reduced sulfur (TRS) analyzer before and after each agent was sprayed into CSSs at five different locations of the city. In short, when the effectiveness of odor treatment was tested in the sewer system using five commercial odor reducing treatments, only the chemical oxidant was good enough to reduce the odor in terms of TRS levels measured before and after the application (p < 0.01).

01 Apr 2021TL;DR: The authors adopt a hierarchical approach where the input is divided in multiple blocks independently processed by the scaled dot-attentions and combined between the successive layers, and compare their approach to standard and pre-trained language-model-based summarizers.
Abstract: Fine-tuning a large language model on downstream tasks has become a commonly adopted process in the Natural Language Processing (NLP) \cite{wang2018glue}. However, such a process, when associated with the current transformer-based \cite{vaswaniAttentionAllYou2017} architectures, shows several limitations when the target task requires to reason with long documents. In this work, we introduce a novel hierarchical propagation layer that spreads information between multiple transformer windows. We adopt a hierarchical approach where the input is divided in multiple blocks independently processed by the scaled dot-attentions and combined between the successive layers. We validate the effectiveness of our approach on three extractive summarization corpora of long scientific papers and news articles. We compare our approach to standard and pre-trained language-model-based summarizers and report state-of-the-art results for long document summarization and comparable results for smaller document summarization.

TL;DR: A novel iterative approach that first enrolls speaker models using audio-visual correspondence, then uses the enrolled models together with the visual information to determine the active speaker to show strong quantitative and qualitative performance on a dataset of real-world meetings.
Abstract: The goal of this work is to determine 'who spoke when' in real-world meetings. The method takes surround-view video and single or multi-channel audio as inputs, and generates robust diarisation outputs. To achieve this, we propose a novel iterative approach that first enrolls speaker models using audio-visual correspondence, then uses the enrolled models together with the visual information to determine the active speaker. We show strong quantitative and qualitative performance on a dataset of real-world meetings. The method is also evaluated on the public AMI meeting corpus, on which we demonstrate results that exceed all comparable methods. We also show that beamforming can be used together with the video to further improve the performance when multi-channel audio is available.

TL;DR: In this article, a single converter is designed and verified by experiment under the condition of a multiple LED light load with different output voltage (Vf) characteristics, and the converter can drive two voltage type 95 Vdc (300 mA) light emitting diode (LED) lights loads and 120 VDC (300mA) LED lights loads simultaneously.
Abstract: In this study, to achieve the constant current drive and brightness control without a separate pulse width modulation (PWM) converter, a single converter is designed and verified by experiment under the condition of a multiple LED light load with different output voltage (Vf) characteristics. In the case of the input of 140 Watt class level, the proposed converter can drive two voltage type 95 Vdc (300 mA) light emitting diode (LED) lights loads and 120 Vdc (300 mA) LED lights loads simultaneously. In addition, to improve commercial compatibility, the proposed converter is operated in a wide range of the input voltage 90~264 Vac; also, the Power Factor Correction (PFC) circuit with the input power factor of more than 0.9 is added. In order to maximize the power conversion efficiency, a LLC resonant converter is applied to the PFC block with the output voltage of 380 Vdc and to a DC-DC conversion block. Finally, reliability of the proposed converter is verified through total harmonic distortion (THD) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) tests.

20 Jun 2008TL;DR: In this paper, a ubiquitous presence service method and system is disclosed, wherein the list of subscribers is managed in the replay platform, and the presence of each service from the application server is integrated through one route, and is then integrally managed so that they are provided based on 3A anytime, anywhere and regardless of the device.
Abstract: A ubiquitous presence service method and system is disclosed, wherein the list of subscribers is managed in the replay platform, and the presence of each service from the application server is integrated through one route, and is then integrally managed so that they are provided based on 3A anytime, anywhere and regardless of the device, whereby the subscriber who receives the information about the present status of the application services operated by the various application servers can integrally manage his(her) own presence profiles, and the application server can provide the subscription authorities of the presence service to the consistent interface. The ubiquitous presence service method comprises receiving presence information including a present or updated status of application service from one or more application servers; and transmitting the received presence information to at least one subscriber terminal.
