30 Sep 2015TL;DR: This study provided objective information about epidemiologic characteristics of Korean medicine in patients with dizziness or vertigo and provides an understanding of the recent status and forms the basis for further expansion of demand for Korean medicine among patients with vertigo.
Abstract: Objectives: We aimed to evaluate the use of Korean medicine in patients with dizziness or vertigo, since such study has not been performed previously. Methods: In the current study, we included 3 diagnoses i.e., Disorders of vestibular function (H81), Vertiginous syndromes in diseases classified elsewhere (H82), and Dizziness and giddiness (R42) from the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRAS) database for 4 years. We analyzed the database and compared treatment with Korean vs. Western medicine. Results: 1. Korean medical visits and cost have been increasing for 4 years, except 2011. Western medi-cal visits are 11.9 times higher than Korean medical visits. 2. The number of women who received Korean medicine was 2.6 times higher than that of men. 3. Among all ages, the 70 ∼79 years group were the most frequent users of Korean medicine. The older age was correlated with more patients’ visits. 4. The comparative number of visits by pati ent care type for 4 years indicated that outpatients had more visits than hospitalization. Furthermore, outpatient visits have been increasing for 4 years. 5. The comparative number of visits by hospital type for 4 years indicated that visits to the Korean med-ical clinic were the highest. In primary care, patients used more Korean medicine than Western medicine. In tertiary care, patients used more Western medicine than Korean medicine. 6. Korean med-ical cost per patient by patient care type for 4 years was a total 89,000 won, hospitalization 449,000 won and outpatient 83,000 won. Costs of all patient care types have been increasing. 7. Korean medical cost per patient by hospital type for 4 years was 156,000 won for Korean medical hospital, 83,000 won for local clinic and 127,000 won for miscellaneous facilities. Costs of all types have been increasing. Conclusions: This study provided objective information about epidemiologic characteristics of Korean medicine in patients with dizziness or vertigo. Furthermore, it provides an understanding of the recent status and forms the basis for further expansion of demand for Korean medicine among patients with dizziness or vertigo.Key Words: Dizziness, Vertigo, Oriental neuropsychiatry, Epidemiology, Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRAS), Korea.

TL;DR: This paper presents a natural 3D hand interaction with the augmented object by the use of stereo-vision technique, which can obtain 3D hands position and finger direction while hand is approaching to the virtual object.
Abstract: The hand interaction between a virtual object and human on Augmented Reality is a major issue to manipulate a rendered object in a convenient way. Conventional 2D image-based recognition and interaction technique in AR has a limitation to perform a natural interaction between the user and the virtual object. In this paper, we present a natural 3D hand interaction with the augmented object by the use of stereo-vision technique. The proposed 3D hand interaction technique can obtain 3D hand position and finger direction while hand is approaching to the virtual object. 3D hand interaction can manipulate the virtual object in a feasible fashion. In addition, it can provide various interactions by detecting the collision between the 3D hand and the virtual 3D object on AR.

TL;DR: Among the samples evaluated herein, Mosidae stimulates some kinds of cytokines from machrophage and 1% Mosidae Dasik (MPD1) for the best commercial value.
Abstract: The principal objective of this study was to evaluate the immune activity of Mosidae and the physiochemical characteristics of brown rice Dasik prepared with Mosidae (Adenophora remotiflora) powder. We assessed the effects of Mosidae ethanol extract (MEE) on the production of IL-6T, IL-12 and TNF-α by peritoneal exudate macrophages (PEMs) using ELISA. We also determined general compositions, and conducted Hunter's color values, sensory evaluation, and the mechanical characteristics of Mosidae Dasik stored at room temperature (20 o C). With MEE treatment, ILI-6 (75% of LPS: positive control), IL-12 (35.7% of LPS) and TNF-α (27.32% of LPS) were proliferated at a dose of 1000 μg/mL. In the general compositions of the samples, fat contents of Mosidae Dasik significantly decreased (p<0.05). The more Mosidae powder was added to the samples, the more was the luminance, and Hunter’s a and b were significantly decreased (p<0.05). As more Mosidae powder was added to the samples, springiness score was significantly decreased, but the score of hardness, gumminess and chewiness were increased (p<0.05). The results of sensory evaluation showed that there were significant differences in the color, taste and overall quality of the samples (p<0.05), but there was no significant difference in texture. We note that, among the samples evaluated herein, Mosidae stimulates some kinds of cytokines from machrophage and 1% Mosidae Dasik (MPD1) for the best commercial value.

15 Apr 2015TL;DR: Sensibility measurement and classification research could be utilized as sensibility of products or contents and usability assessment indicators and this may be helpful in social, cultural and economic perspective.
Abstract: Recently, in order to measure human sensibility, diversified researches including facial expression, questionnaire and analysis of bio-signal have been progressed. The objective of this study is to classify human sensibility quantitatively and objectively by using 3 types of bio-signal of PPG, GSR and RESP. First, bio-signal was analyzed by sorting out photos based on 6 types of basic sensibility (delight, laugh, surprise, anger, frustration, sorrow) suggested in IAPS and its variation was measured. Sensibility measurement and classification research could be utilized as sensibility of products or contents and usability assessment indicators and this may be helpful in social, cultural and economic perspective.
