Abstract: This paper aimed to discuss functioning, quality of life, (QoL) and lifespan care issues of adolescents and young adults with childhood-onset physical disability from a clinical, scientific, and personal perspective. We present a resume of results of recently performed studies in rehabilitation-based samples of (young) adults with childhood-onset conditions such as cerebral palsy (CP) and spina bifida (SB), and different models of transition and lifespan care. The studies showed that many young adults with a childhood-onset disability experience health-related problems such as functional deterioration, pain or fatigue, and an inactive lifestyle. A significant number are restricted in participation in work, housing, and intimate relationships. They perceive a lower health-related and global QoL compared with a reference group. In some centres in the UK and the Netherlands specialized outpatient services are available or being developed. In conclusion, transition to adulthood is a critical phase for reaching autonomous participation in adult life. There is an international challenge to incorporate a lifespan perspective in paediatric, transition, and adult health care services for persons with a childhood-onset disability.

Abstract: The evidence here indicates that sovereign debt rating and credit outlook changes of one country have an asymmetric and economically significant effect on the stock market returns of other countries over 1989–2003. There is a negative reaction of 51 basis points (two-day return spread vis-a-vis the US) to a credit ratings downgrade of one notch in a common information spillover around the world. Upgrades, however, have no significant impact on return spreads of countries abroad. Closeness (e.g., geographic proximity) and emerging market status amplify the effect of a spillover. Downgrade spillover effects at the industry level are more pronounced in traded goods and small industries.

Abstract: Background Rosemary ( Rosmarinus officinalis L) is a widely consumed aromatic plant that belongs to the Lamiaceae family Fresh and dried leaves are frequently used in traditional Mediterranean cuisine and in folk medicine Scope and approach For this study, an extensive bibliographic review on rosemary was carried out, including its main uses, components (both nutrients and bioactive), biological activities, interactions with drugs and potential applications Key findings and conclusions The nutrient composition of rosemary reveals a great amount of vitamins and minerals The most well studied bioactive compounds are carnosic acid, carnosol, caffeic acid and its derivative, rosmarinic acid The levels on bioactive compounds depend on many factors, such as the variety, plant part, edafoclimatic conditions, drying conditions (if applied) and extraction and analysis methods Numerous biological activities of rosemary are recognized including antioxidant, antibacterial and antifungal, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, among others Therefore it has a vast range of industrial applications such as food and food packaging, pharmaceutical, perfumery and cosmetics industries
