TL;DR: To promote nursing as a viable profession, unrestricted by gender, the participants recommended that recruitment strategies begin at an earlier age.
Abstract: Background and Purpose
Men are underrepresented in nursing, accounting for less than 6% of Canadian nurses This research explores issues surrounding recruitment, retention, and work life satisfaction for men who are nurses working in acute care settings
Method and Findings
Purposive and snowball sampling was used in this descriptive, qualitative study Sixteen men participated in four focus groups conducted in three communities in southwestern Ontario The participants revealed that work stress, lack of full-time opportunities, and gender-based stereotypes contributed to job dissatisfaction Providing care to patients and making a difference were personal rewards that influenced their desire to stay in the profession To promote nursing as a viable profession, unrestricted by gender, the participants recommended that recruitment strategies begin at an earlier age
Discussion and Conclusion
Findings are discussed in relation to recruitment and retention issues with implications for education, practice, and management

TL;DR: In this article, the authors have experimentally, numerically and theoretically investigated the water jet cleaning process and showed that the decay of stagnation pressure along the axial direction is linear and no cleaning is possible at radial locations greater than 1.68 D from the centerline.

TL;DR: Differences between Arctic clones required a low hatching temperature (7°C), whereas clones from warmer climates hatched best at 14–21°C, suggest that research determining macro- and microgeographic patterns in hatching phenology would be fruitful.
Abstract: SUMMARY. 1. The conditions required to initiate development of resting eggs of thirty-six clones of Daphnia representing seven species were investigated.
2. The temperature of both dark incubation and subsequent light treatment are shown to affect hatch success. By varying these parameters the majority of resting eggs from each test clone were stimulated to develop. Arctic clones required a low hatching temperature (7°C), whereas clones from warmer climates hatched best at 14–21°C.
3. Variation in hatching cues existed between conspecific individuals from different collection sites. These differences suggest that research determining macro- and microgeographic patterns in hatching phenology would be fruitful.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of graphite and ceramic particulate and graphite additions on the high temperature dry sliding wear resistance of two Al alloys was studied using a ring-on-flat sliding contact configuration against hardened SAE 52100 bearing steel counterfaces on an apparatus built for testing at controlled temperatures.

TL;DR: In this article, the vibrational spectra of LiPF6 1M solutions formed in aprotic mixed solvent by mixing ethylene carbonate with dimethyl carbonate and diethyl carbonate are discussed.
Abstract: The vibrational spectra of LiPF6 1M solutions formed in aprotic mixed solventsobtained by mixing ethylene carbonate with dimethyl carbonate and diethylcarbonate are discussed The Raman and infrared spectra of lithium hexafluorophosphate(LiPF6) and the quantum chemical computations of the vibrationalwavenumbers and intensities are reported Due to the nature of the solutions, attenuated total internal reflectance spectroscopy was used to obtain the infraredspectra The infrared active vibrational fundamentals of PF6− provided evidencefor the anion—solvent interaction as well as ion-pair formation Similarly, theinfrared active modes of the solvent showed significant changes due to thecation—solvent interaction The computations of the most energetically favorablegeometry in the formation of the Li+ PF6 ion pair are also presented Conductivitymeasurements carried out for the 1M solutions scanning a wide temperatureinterval (−30 to + 60 °C) confirm the viability of these electrolytes forpractical applications
