TL;DR: It is recommended that for the meantime norfloxacin inhibition zones be interpreted as sensitive from 15 mm onwards to allow a safety margin.
Abstract: Using regression analysis to correlate MIC values and inhibition zone diameters, an attempt was made to establish criteria for interpreting the results of the agar diffusion test with norfloxacin discs (10 mcg). The test was performed on DST agar in accordance with ICS recommendations. The correlation was moderate (r = -0.8547); the regression equation was x = -0.30y + 15.80, where x was log2 MIC + 9 and y the inhibition zone diameter. The position of the MIC breakpoints of norfloxacin and the distribution of the MIC values of the bacterial population did not permit precise inhibition zone breakpoints to be established. To allow a safety margin it is recommended that for the meantime norfloxacin inhibition zones be interpreted as sensitive from 15 mm onwards.

09 Jun 1983TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a mechanism for compensation of shrinkage porosity in diecasting, in which in practice the conventional diecasting machines can be used without great changes both in the machine control and in the construction of the diecasting mould.
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for compensation of the shrinkage porosity in diecasting and has the object of providing a device for compensation of the shrinkage porosity in diecasting, in which in practice the conventional diecasting machines can be used without great changes both in the machine control and in the construction of the diecasting mould. This is achieved according to the invention by one or more ejector pins (15), such as are known from low pressure casting, being designed as compressor pins (16), attached to a separate compressor plate (11) and guided through the ejector plate (10). As can be seen from the drawing, the diecasting mould also has in addition to the conventional ejector plate (10) a compressor plate (11), in which the compressor pins (16) are fixed, which are guided through the ejector plate (10) and extend into the cavity (18). After filling of the cavity (18) the decoupling of the plates (10 and 11) takes place after an adjustable time. Subsequently the ejector cylinder (5) is switched to advance, causing the compressor plate (11) with the compressor pins (16) to advance, to be precise over the path "St". In this process, each of the compressor pins (11) presses a volume corresponding to its diameter at the stroke of the compressor plate (11) into the semi-solidified cast part. After a further adjustable setting time, the compressor plate (11) is withdrawn again.

29 Sep 2021TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a framework combining fault-tolerant design, useful lifetime aware design, fault tolerant control and planned condition dependent maintenance for forklifts in high storage warehouses.
Abstract: The central objectives of the presented research work are the development of design methods and a control system which allow to incorporate knowledge concerning the health of system elements in industrial applications. The paper presents a framework combining fault-tolerant design, useful lifetime aware design, fault-tolerant control and planned condition dependent maintenance. These elements of the framework are explained and detailed investigations of some of these elements are presented. Fault-tolerant design is explained on the example of the drive modules of an industrial forklift. For useful lifetime aware design a detailed investigation concerning the health (respectively the remaining useful life (RUL)) of certain machine elements in forklifts in high storage warehouses is explained. The chosen machine elements are ball bearings due to their frequent application and enormous significance in industrial systems. For these elements, a multiple model-based Takagi-Sugeno scheme is presented that is capable to follow and predict the degradation of a technical system. Fault-tolerant control in this framework is explained through the application of a virtual fuzzy actuator for the drive system of the forklift.
