Abstract: The building block (1) is designed to interlock with other building blocks of the same size and shape. The block as made of six alternating rectangular layers (4,5) which are offset from one another along a diagonal so that three of the layers form ridges (2) sticking out in one direction while the other three layers form similar ridges which stick out in the other direction. The six layers are of equal thickness, so that the grooves (3) between the ridges closely engage the ridges on neighbouring blocks. The edges of the ridges are chamfered so that they may slide easily into the grooves in the sides of neighbouring blocks.
