Investigations on the caesium-137 household of Lake Lugano, Switzerland

Abstract: Sediment samples were taken from different basins of Lake Lugano, and the caesium 137 inventory and vertical distribution was measured. In all samples, a distinct maximum at a depth of 5 to 10 cm can be attributed to the 1986 Chernobyl fallout. Relatively high specific activities of 500 to 1,000 Bq/kg can still be found in the top layer of the sediment. 5 step extraction experiments on sediment samples resulted in percentages of extracted caesium which are a factor of 2 to 8 higher than those of Lake Constance, where caesium is strongly bound to illites. The activity concentration of the water of 3 main tributaries, of the outflow and of the lake water was in the order of 5 to 10 mBq/l.

Systemic mechatronic function development

Abstract: Since decades, researchers are developing methods, tools, and processes for the development of mechatronic systems. In the last decade, this field has widened, including, amongst others, aspects such as cyber-physical systems (CPS) or the internet of things (IoT). Still, little concrete guidance can be identified for engineers who have to decide whether to realize a certain product function mechanically, electronically, through software functions, or with combinations thereof. The goal of the paper is to contribute to the development of guidelines for design engineers in which domain (or in which combination of domains and other areas) to allocate the solution for an engineering problem.

Zur Qualität der Kindertagesbetreuung aus Kindersicht

Abstract: Befunde belegen den Einfluss der Prozessqualitat in Kindertageseinrichtungen u.a. auf die kindliche Sprachentwicklung sowie die kindliche Bewaltigung von Alltagssituationen (u.a. Downer, Sabol & Hamre 2010; Rosbach, Kluczniok & Isenmann 2008). Nach Tietze et al. (1998) liegt die padagogische Qualitat in deutschen Kitas aber nur in einem mittleren Bereich bei betrachtlichen Unterschieden der Struktur- und Prozessqualitat, was durch die NUBBEK-Studie (vgl. Tietze et al. 2013) mittlerweile auch fur den Bereich der Betreuung unter dreijahriger Kinder bestatigt wurde. In deutschen Kitas ist nach wie vor eine grose Streuung von unzureichender bis sehr guter Prozessqualitat vorzufinden. Damit eine hohere padagogische Qualitat erreicht wird, wird von vielen Seiten (u.a. Nattefort, Grenner, Tietze & Rosbach 2017) gefordert, das Interesse und die Perspektiven der betreuten Kinder starker als bislang zu berucksichtigen und bewusst in den padagogischen Alltag zu integrieren.

Abstract: The PISA consortium with its research design and methodology has set new standards for educational research and fundamentally changed the cooperation between VET research and VET policy. This is mainly due to the fact that policy makers and the scientific community alike accepted the PISA methodology almost without any reservation. This is a new situation, which since then poses a challenge for VET researchers to extend competence diagnostics to ever wider fields of application. It was thus no surprise when already in 2003 the idea of a VET PISA was proposed for the first time, to be followed in Germany shortly afterwards by a feasibility study commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Economics on an international VET PISA (cf. Baethge et al. 2006).
