Abstract: An apparatus for mixing powdered or coarse-grained bulk materials includes a first mixing device (4) with a second mixing device (11) lying below it, each of them having cylindrical mixing containers (2, 12) with downward tapering mass flow hoppers (3, 13). The bulk material from the upper mixing device (4) is conveyed via gravity pipes (9, 10, 10', 28, 29) into the second mixing device (11), which concentrically surrounds a third mixing device (6). Outlet apertures (27) are provided in the third mixing device (6) to ensure a constant discharge mass flow through the total lower outlet area (25).

In vitro activity and cross resistance studies with cefpodoxime.

Abstract: Summary On the basis of MIC determinations and appropriate MIC breakpoints, 370 pathogens showed complete cross resistance between cefpodoxime and cefuroxime axetil, cefotiam hexetil, cefixime and cefotaxime in 69.7%, 80.3%, 92.2% and 87% of the strains, respectively. Cefpodoxime was superior to cefuroxime axetil in 28.7%, to cefotiam hexetil in 17.6%, to cefixime in 7% of strains and to cefotaxime not at all. On the other hand, we found cefpodoxime to be inferior to the cephalosporins mentioned in 1.6%, 2.1%, 0.8 and 13%, respectively.

Vacuum pressure die casting of dense prods. - in machine where vacuum is applied to injector barrel and to die cavity to obtain castings with low contents of inclusions

Abstract: The cast metal or alloy prods. pref. have a wt. of 1-3 kg, and are pref. made in a conventional, horizontal, cold-chamber pressure die casting machine. In the machine, the molten metal is drawn up a pipe into the injector barrel by a vacuum; and a vacuum is also applied to the die cavity. The vacuum is maintained while the metal flows into the injector barrel, and during casting, so that all gases, and the vapour obtd. from the barrel lubricant, are removed before the metal enters the die cavity. The vacuum is pref. maintained for min. 3 seconds during the flow of metal into the barrel and the casting operation. Used esp. for mfg. Al alloy castings.

Abstract: Each working station has an independent transporter for work pieces, which is formed as a multiple-part articulated arm. The transporter is mounted above the work piece movement plane on press stands or between presses. The articulated arm part (22) connected to a transverse strut (19) is shorter than the other arm part (21), and executes a pivot movement (28) mainly above the common pivot point (27). Both arm parts each have a controllable drive (23,26) with toothed gears (24).
