Hepatic artery and biliary complications in liver transplant recipients undergoing pretransplant transarterial chemoembolization

TL;DR: It is hypothesized that prior endovascular antitumor therapy may increase the risk of hepatic artery (HA) and biliary complications after LT and a lower pre‐LT albumin level and an older donor age were significantly associated with higher odds of HA complications afterLT.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hepatitis C: The End of the Beginning and Possibly the Beginning of the End

TL;DR: Dramatic cure rates for genotype 1 infections far exceed prior expectations and portend a paradigm shift in HCV therapy that may eventuate in interferon-sparing regimens with low toxicity and high compliance.
Journal ArticleDOI

Diabetes mellitus following liver transplantation in patients with hepatitis C virus: risks and consequences.

TL;DR: Addressing insulin resistance and PTDM in HCV‐positive liver transplant recipients may have the potential to slow HCV complications and improve survival outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Transarterial chemoembolization with drug-eluting beads in hepatocellular carcinoma

TL;DR: Treatment with DC Beads substantially reduced the amount of chemotherapeutic agent that reached the systemic circulation compared with conventional, lipiodol-based regimens, significantly reducing drug-related adverse events.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in hepatitis A and B vaccination rates in adult patients with chronic liver diseases and diabetes in the U.S. population.

TL;DR: Although vaccination rates in CLD and diabetic cohorts are increasing, they remain low, given the public health implications of acute hepatitis A and hepatitis B in patients with CLD, better implementation of the vaccination recommendations is warranted.

Aging of Hepatitis C Virus (HCV)-Infected Persons in the United States: A Multiple Cohort Model of HCV Prevalence and Disease Progression

TL;DR: Prevalence of hepatitis C cirrhosis and its complications will continue to increase through the next decade and will mostly affect those older than 60 years of age, but wider application of antiviral treatment and better responses with new agents could significantly reduce the impact of this disease in coming years.
