The TLR-mediated response of plasmacytoid dendritic cells is positively regulated by estradiol in vivo through cell-intrinsic estrogen receptor α signaling
Cyril Seillet,Cyril Seillet,Cyril Seillet,Sophie Laffont,Sophie Laffont,Sophie Laffont,F. Tremollieres,Nelly Rouquié,Nelly Rouquié,Nelly Rouquié,Claude Ribot,Jean-François Arnal,Victorine Douin-Echinard,Pierre Gourdy,Jean-Charles Guéry +14 more
TL;DR: It is shown, in humanized mice, that the TLR-7-mediated response of human pDCs is increased in female host mice relative to male, and a previously unappreciated role for estrogens in regulating the innate functions of p DCs is uncovered, which may account for sex-based differences in autoimmune and infectious diseases.

Veldt,Bettina E. Hansen,Harry L A Janssen,Harry L A Janssen +25 more
TL;DR: Patients with HCV-induced cirrhosis and SVR showed an annual risk of approximately 1% for HCC and 2% for clinical disease progression, therefore, to prevent HCC surveillance, chronic HCV infection should preferably be treated before Cirrhosis has developed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Management and treatment of hepatitis C viral infection: recommendations from the Department of Veterans Affairs Hepatitis C Resource Center program and the National Hepatitis C Program office.
TL;DR: To optimally manage hepatitis C and associated comorbidities, patients benefit from multidisciplinary teams that can provide HCV-specific care and treatment.

Aging of Hepatitis C Virus (HCV)-Infected Persons in the United States: A Multiple Cohort Model of HCV Prevalence and Disease Progression
TL;DR: Prevalence of hepatitis C cirrhosis and its complications will continue to increase through the next decade and will mostly affect those older than 60 years of age, but wider application of antiviral treatment and better responses with new agents could significantly reduce the impact of this disease in coming years.
