Prognostic Implications of Preoperative Atrial Fibrillation in Patients Undergoing Aortic Valve Replacement: Is There an Argument for Concomitant Arrhythmia Surgery?

TL;DR: Performance of concomitant arrhythmia surgery in patients undergoing aortic valve surgery may reduce late morbidity; however, its potential impact on late mortality in this high-risk subset of patients remains unclear.

Prospective Comparison of Flecainide Versus Sotalol for Immediate Cardioversion of Atrial Fibrillation

TL;DR: Multivariate analysis confirmed that treatment allocation to flecainide, an arrhythmia duration of < or = 24 hours, higher plasma magnesium level at baseline, higher age for men, and lower age for women independently increases the probability of conversion.
