Journal ArticleDOI

Enterocyte digestive enzyme activity along the crypt-villus and longitudinal axes in the neonatal pig small intestine.

TL;DR: The results suggest that the enterocyte life span in the distal small intestine is approximately twice as long as in the proximal small intestine, however, despite the difference in life span, the patterns of enzyme activities were generally similar in the proxy and distal regions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nigrostriatal damage preferentially decreases a subpopulation of α6β2* nAChRs in mouse, monkey, and Parkinson's disease striatum

TL;DR: The use of a novel α-conotoxin MII (α-CtxMII) analog E11A to further investigate α6β2* nAChR subtypes in mouse, monkey, and human striatum suggests that dopaminergic terminals expressing the α6α4β2β3 population are selectively vulnerable to nigrostriatal damage.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of fish oil on hypertension, plasma lipids, and tumor necrosis factor-α in rats with sucrose-induced metabolic syndrome

TL;DR: Fish oil reversed the alterations on metabolic parameters and blood pressure exerted by sucrose administration, although it had no effect on TNF-alpha production and adiposity, confirming the theory that the molecular etiology of the metabolic syndrome is multifactorial.
Journal ArticleDOI

Measurement of free Ca2+ in sarcoplasmic reticulum in perfused rabbit heart loaded with 1,2-bis(2-amino-5,6-difluorophenoxy)ethane-N,N,N',N'-tetraacetic acid by 19F NMR.

TL;DR: There appears to be a heterogeneous response to SR calcium channel release activator and SR calcium-ATPase inhibitor, consistent with studies suggesting that there are subpopulations of SR.
Journal ArticleDOI

Development and Characterization of a Mouse Model for Marburg Hemorrhagic Fever

TL;DR: It is shown that further sequential passages of MARV-Ravn in immunocompetent mice caused the MARV to kill BALB/c mice and may also help to provide a better understanding of the virulence factors associated with MARV.

Oxidants, antioxidants, and the degenerative diseases of aging

TL;DR: It is argued that this damage to DNA, protein, and lipid is a major contributor to aging and to degenerative diseases of aging such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, immune-system decline, brain dysfunction, and cataracts.
Journal ArticleDOI

The american psychological association.

Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals

TL;DR: The Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals by the Institute for Laboratory Animal Research (ILAR) of the National Research Council in the USA, is well known among most individuals involved in laboratory animal care and use and the overall intention is to support the readers to build a programme which creates a system of selfregulation and regulatory oversight.
