The recent integration of bovine data makes InnateDB the first integrated network analysis platform for this agriculturally important model organism, and a range of improvements to the integrated bioinformatics solutions are reported.Abstract:
InnateDB (http://www.innatedb.com) is an integrated analysis platform that has been specifically designed to facilitate systems-level analyses of mammalian innate immunity networks, pathways and genes. In this article, we provide details of recent updates and improvements to the database. InnateDB now contains >196 000 human, mouse and bovine experimentally validated molecular interactions and 3000 pathway annotations of relevance to all mammalian cellular systems (i.e. not just immune relevant pathways and interactions). In addition, the InnateDB team has, to date, manually curated in excess of 18 000 molecular interactions of relevance to innate immunity, providing unprecedented insight into innate immunity networks, pathways and their component molecules. More recently, InnateDB has also initiated the curation of allergy- and asthma-related interactions. Furthermore, we report a range of improvements to our integrated bioinformatics solutions including web service access to InnateDB interaction data using Proteomics Standards Initiative Common Query Interface, enhanced Gene Ontology analysis for innate immunity, and the availability of new network visualizations tools. Finally, the recent integration of bovine data makes InnateDB the first integrated network analysis platform for this agriculturally important model organism.read more

African horse sickness virus NS4 protein is an important virulence factor and interferes with JAK-STAT signaling during viral infection.
Gayle V. Wall,Isabella M. Wright,Carin Barnardo,Baltus J. Erasmus,Vida van Staden,A. Christiaan Potgieter +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the role of AHSV NS4 in viral replication, virulence and the host immune response was investigated, and it was shown that the presence of NS4 was shown to result in a 24 hour delay in the transcriptional activation of several immune system processes compared to when the protein was absent.

Intestinal Immune Development Is Accompanied by Temporal Deviation in Microbiota Composition of Newly Hatched Pigeon Squabs
TL;DR: The first week after hatching seems to be the critical window for ileal microbiota colonization and that a potentially stable microbiota has not yet been well established at 21 days of age, and cellular adaptive immune responses mediated by Th17 cells following commensal-induced proinflammatory cytokine production in the ileum begin as early as the first week posthatch.

TL;DR: Banerjee et al. as mentioned in this paper analyzed the global perturbations in host response in LTBI individuals as compared to uninfected individuals and particularly the heterogeneity in such response, across LTBI cohorts.

TL;DR: The findings highlight the significance of epigenomic data, and they indicate integrating DNA methylation data with gene coexpression networks can have a synergistic effect, which could be useful in the prognostication of a subset of borderline AML cases.
