Sharing and community curation of mass spectrometry data with Global Natural Products Social Molecular Networking

Mingxun Wang, +135 more
- 01 Aug 2016 -
TL;DR: In GNPS, crowdsourced curation of freely available community-wide reference MS libraries will underpin improved annotations and data-driven social-networking should facilitate identification of spectra and foster collaborations.

Rapamycin (ay-22, 989), a new antifungal antibiotic i. taxonomy of the producing streptomycete and isolation of the active principle

TL;DR: From its characteristic ultraviolet absorption spectrum rapamycin can be classified as a triene and its activity is compared with that of amphotericin B, candicidin and nystatin.

Notes on the characterization of prokaryote strains for taxonomic purposes.

TL;DR: The purpose of the present article is to outline the key elements in the way that prokaryotes are characterized, with a view to providing an overview of some of the pitfalls commonly encountered in taxonomic papers.

Humic acid-vitamin agar, a new medium for the selective isolation of soil actinomycetes

TL;DR: A new medium, designated HV agar, containing soil humic acid as the sole source of carbon and nitrogen was developed and produced remarkably larger numbers of actinomycetes, especially strains of the genera Micromonospora, Microbispora, Streptosporangium, Dactylosporangsium and Saccharomonospora than did glycerol-arginine agar.

Avermectins, New Family of Potent Anthelmintic Agents: Producing Organism and Fermentation

TL;DR: The avermectins are a complex of chemically related agents which exhibit extraordinarily potent anthelmintic activity and are produced by a novel species of actinomycete, NRRL 8165, which is named Streptomyces avermitilis.

Streptomyces albus (Rossi-Doria) Waksman et Henrici: taxonomic study of strains labeled Streptomyces albus.

TL;DR: In streptomycete taxonomy and nomenclature the most important species is Streptomyces albus (Rossi-Doria) Waksman et Henrici, and the descriptions of this species suggest that one of Waks man's strains might be most representative of the type.

Hydrogen sulfide production by streptomyces as a criterion for species differentiation

TL;DR: The Society of American Bacteriologists Subcommittee on Taxonomy of Actinomycetales is promoting the reevaluation of all criteria for species delineation within this group as one of the initial steps in the evolution of a better system of identification.
