Physics basis and design of the ITER plasma-facing components

TLDR
The ITER PFC design has now reached a rather mature stage following the 2007 ITER Design Review as discussed by the authors, and the key elements of the design, reviews the physics drivers, essentially thermal load specifications, which have defined the concept and discusses a selection of material and design issues.

SOLPS-ITER modeling of CFETR advanced divertor with Ar and Ne seeding

TL;DR: In this paper , the results of the CFETR advanced divertor optimization by SOLPS-ITER modeling with full drifts and currents activated are presented and three divertor geometries, which differ by the distance from the X-point to the strike point on the outer target, are considered.
Journal ArticleDOI

SOLPS-ITER modeling of beryllium trace impurity in ITER

TL;DR: In this paper, a trace impurity model for beryllium transport in a tokamak ITER was carried out by using the SOLPS-ITER code.

The Role of an Electric Field in the Formation of a Detached Regime in Tokamak Plasma

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors model the transition to the detachment of ASDEX upgrade tokamak plasma with increasing density using the SOLPS-ITER numerical code with a self-consistent account of drifts and currents.
Journal ArticleDOI

OEDGE modeling of DIII-D density scan discharges leading to detachment

TL;DR: In this article, the OEDGE code is used to model the outer divertor plasma for discharges from a density scan experiment on DIII-D with the objective of assessing EIRENE and ADAS hydrogenic emission atomic physics data for values of T e and n e characteristic of the range of divertor plasmas from attached to weakly detached.
Journal ArticleDOI

Formation and fragmentation of the tungsten clusters in gas phase

TL;DR: A theoretical study of accumulation of clusters consisting of up to 100 tungsten atoms based on information extracted from molecular dynamics trajectory simulations based on the rates corresponding to the single W atom attachment to Wn clusters and their dissociation processes.

Fluctuations and transport in the TCV scrape-off layer

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the particle and radial flux density statistics in the scrape-off layer of TCV plasmas and direct comparison with two-dimensional interchange turbulence simulations at the outer midplane.

Status and physics basis of the ITER divertor

TL;DR: The ITER divertor design is the culmination of years of physics and engineering effort, building confidence that this critical component will satisfy the requirements and meet the challenge of burning plasma operation as discussed by the authors.
