Reference-based stochastic subspace identification for output-only modal analysis

TLDR
In this paper, a novel approach of stochastic subspace identification is presented that incorporates the idea of the reference sensors already in the identification step: the row space of future outputs is projected into the rowspace of past reference outputs.

A diagnostic logic for preventing structural failure in concrete displacing booms

TL;DR: In this paper, a health monitoring algorithm for a specific kind of construction machinery (concrete displacing booms) is proposed based on the knowledge of the geometrical and dynamic parameters of the boom, estimated through a stand-alone self-learning procedure.

Damage Detection of Shear Connectors in Composite Bridges

TL;DR: In this article, a damage indicator based on the local modal curvature and the wavelet transform modulus maxima is proposed for stud damage identification, and the efficiency of the damage indicator is investigated by means of numerical simulations where different levels of damage are introduced to the stud by decreasing the spring stiffness.

Damage identification in skeletal structures using the virtual distortion method in frequency domain

TL;DR: In this paper, the virtual distortion method is applied to structural health monitoring in the frequency domain, with the assumption of using harmonic excitation (quasi-static problem), and the hardware devices are piezoelectric patch sensors.

Agglomerative concentric hypersphere clustering applied to structural damage detection

TL;DR: The proposed cluster-based method, named as agglomerative concentric hypersphere (ACH), to detect structural damage in engineering structures reveals a better classification performance than the alternative ones in terms of false-positive and false-negative indications of damage, demonstrating a promising applicability in real-world structural health monitoring scenarios.

The identification of a dam's modal parameters under random support excitation based on the Hankel matrix joint approximate diagonalization technique

TL;DR: In this paper, Hankel matrix joint approximate diagonalization (HJAD) is used to identify the modal parameters of a dam under ambient excitation, such as from an earthquake.
